If I could truly be an example of
my inner thoughts and desires,
I'd share with those who horde.
From a little piece of myself
I'd speak thoughts to stimulate
the tunneled greedy hearts,
spread unmistaken kindness over lips
and give an unsuspected kiss
to hard nosed dollar diggers,
with a gentle hug
and a drink from the fountain of truth
If I could truly be an example of
my deepest wishes and love promises
I'd find a highway under the sea
collecting the four corners to me.
And the sensations on the front page
would be about the pleasure of
living in an earthly paradise
where the favorite drink wouldn't
need all this ice.
If I could truly be an example of
my hopes for freedom and faith
I'd spend my living years preaching
love and grace with kindness
by my side as a crutch to prop up
the unfortunate and disabled
ushering them through halls of
personal fame, the awards,
achievemnets of selfless giving.
I weigh in at intentions
several pounds shy of champion material,
but my heart is heavy with
If I could truly be an example of
how I should be'
maybe someone.....would let me give to them
that example of me that
they gave to me.......
while they were
seeking love and security!

My father had a daughter and everyone was suprised!

"My father had a daughter and everyone was surprised..."

I had to giggle when I read that!

And I have to say, this is worthy of reading, and a re-read as well...

smiling...you melt my cynicism!

Enjoyed this expression of ideals, and the vision of a soul in earnest.

Beautiful.

(and yep, I grin with Sunshine, on that line)

nice touch, that

Cherry darling girl this is wonderful writing, you never cease to amaze me, your pop raised an absolute diamond. Your writing illuminates the page with your love for life and others shines through every single word. This is  utterly utterly wonderful darling heart. You know I absolutely love this don’t you. Utterly utterly perfect. How can you write so consistently well? I know you simply write and how it turns out is in the lap of fate. Excellent writing absolutely excellent

Love and warm stuff

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire

Is it any wonder your dad is so proud of you?  To think like this is to change the world.  It takes a poet!

This is quite the remarkable piece of poetry you have penned.  It stands on it's own as poetic beauty with super line breaks and impact, then you toss in the heart and wisdom that it was written with and ... well ... we have no choice but to be IMPRESSED.  Now, go teach some of these things to your DAD! LOL  ( kidding ... he is a great role model from what I can tell and it is no surprise that his daughter has the wisdom to match. Wonderful work you have delievered here.  I very much enjoyed.
