Greasy spoon at the corner
hot air welcomes midnight stroller
tables with fork reliefs
cooking staff beats the heat...

fries sizzle in their vat
hot plate is loyally scraped
to the tune of Quebec country..
and artsy clients waggle in
wonder where they've all been

greasy spoon and sunflower forks
adorn those table tops crowned
each with a glass filled sugar shaker
the fries sizzles
a hamburger gets tossed on a griddle
and out in front is a trio of fiddles....

fries still sizzle
the hamburger turns its rightful cooked colour
did I say this was the witching hour?
for some artsy clients who'd prefer to eat
at least there's room as the cooks beat the heat.

okay..I admit..I may be overanalyzing, but there has to be more to this poem than food..but..All I can think of is how hungry it makes me for a quick burger and fries right now.
*sigh*

Distance is the prison for our bodies, but no prison could weaken our passion.
