Time to Take a Bath

The nurse said, “Time to take a bath.”
Embarrassed, I could not help, laugh.
She took my gown and left me nude,
with hands in lap, I felt a prude.

She washed my back then rinsed it off
and the scent of suds made me cough.
She washed my chest and armpits too.
No hands in lap, oh what to do?

And then she washed my private place.
Three shades of red were on my face.
She spent a lot of time down there.
It seemed all that she did was stare.

She washed and rinsed and washed and rinsed.
Embarrassed, I just winced and winced.
“Now stand up, sir, and let me dry.”
I thought that I would surely die.

She dried every part of me.
There’s nothing that she didn’t see.
With new gown on, I went to bed,
still hoping blush would leave my head.

No modesty allowed when sick.
The next nurse I hoped I could pick,
for this one was too cute and sweet.
I liked it when she washed my seat.

This poem put me in the place that you were.  I love that!  I question the title a bit, but that's just me.  Nice work!

Michael

Laughter, especially at yourself, is good for whatever hurts...even with a red face.  Loved this!

That is so very funny!  Aside from blush-ed-ness, sounds like someone had an okay moment at bathtime.  I love the "washed and rinsed...and winced and winced".  That had a nice beat to it.  No pun intended.

Oh Michael I have actually witnessed this type of thing at the Extended Care Unit, and the faces on the patients is hilarious, and they go as red as an apple.  We loose alll dignity when we are sick don't we.  It is good to see you didn't loose your sense of humor that was priceless and oh so very, very true!

so light and humurous Michael, although I'm sure it wasn't for you.  I'm glad you could write of it though.  Have missed your words dear friend.  HUGS to you.

Michael you have the best sense of humor. I love this. I know how much privacy is absent in hospital. It can be mortifying.
Glad you enjoyed your pretty nurse.

Man, have I been there-done that....what's bad is when you're in the hospital for a long stay and the nurses seem to know you REAL well.....and have ya ever noticed...they never send in some old ugly nurse, it's always one that looks like she was just torn out of Penthouse magazine?....
