May I Lay

May I lay my fears down,
Here, where they may breathe,
Where you might find them some day
Hidden beneath the leaves

No one knows these secret thoughts
That gild my very soul
I had hoped to keep them quiet
But now I fear their hole

For it has torn the side of me
I bleed a secret storm
That you and I shall never meet
And I to never know your warm

I fear not death, I know my maker
I truly fear no disease
I only fear to never know
That by which souls are pleased

For in you I have found my mate,
I hear this on the wind;
And yet we have never met
Though I feel found again

I only have this letter, torn
It bears your finest stroke
It speaks of loving from your heart
As to my heart, it spoke

You made me feel, you made me tear
The salt poured in liquid heat
And now I fear, so much you see,
That we shall never meet

May I lay my fears down,
Here, where they may fade,
Where you might find them one day
On a promised love you’ve made

There is a vision before my eyes
You stand so tall and pure
My heart is held there in your hands
A warm beat of ever sure

You greet my lips, my love is cast
Upon your form so strong,
A simple letter is all I hold
But to you I now belong

Be you dream, or reality,
My only fear is this ~
That my mind holds the known of you
But that I die without your kiss.

Hello Elan,
We have missed your beautiful penning of words here.  I'm so pleased to see you joining us again today.  This piece has such a sad longing..full of love and ache.  A love that may never be...which is so very sad.  Well done dear lady.

Elan

Seems the most romantic feelings are birthed from lovers who have never touched...this was delicate and dearly written thus.

Elan...you have penned a modern day Romeo and Juliet tradgedy, yet you kept the classic elegance of the theme....
very very cool write... a IWIHWT keeper.

We wish ourselves beautiful ... and cry in the night.
Its not the love you fear ... but the fall from the height.

Oh Elan!  This has such "ache" about it.  I love it!

"For in you I have found my mate/I hear this on the wind/and yet we have never met/Though I feel found again".

This is lovely.

A very flowing, easy read wham-packed with soul shaking fears and possibilities.
