The Knight’s Burden

Bein’ a knight’s a burden,
Ah cain’t stop from hurtin’.
These jousts and shivarees
Have got the best of me.

When comes the payin’ time,
Ah ain’t got a dime.
After poundin’ out the dents
Ah might have seven cents.

Another problem’s rust
In this tin can Ah trust;
The joints all get warty
And ah’m out’n WD 40.

So if yur wantin,’ kid,
To strap on this tin lid,
Just listen to yur pard here
While I hunker on muh rear.

Why sure, there’s lots of gals
But they’re always with muh pals.
It seems my spring and coil
Needs a change of oil.

But Ah’ll tell you truthful, bub.
It’s the years, aye there’s the rub.
It’s like a cat ah was;
Mean with all them claws.

But this minute ah’m all beat
As ah set upon muh seat.
The youngsters’ got the speed
And reckon it’s time to heed.

I’ve old Roanie here to thank;
He’s been money in the bank.
But he is up there too,
Never turn him to glue.

Eh what? Can you handle his tack?
Why shore, ah’ll jes’ settle back.
Thet sun’s so warm I’ll snooze.
Say, kid, you got any booze?
