A small red pail at his feet
And a blue spade in his hand
His feet are below the water
Half submerged in the sand

Surrounded by cool clear water
This day has been so much fun
Lost in his own little world
Beneath the warm Summer sun

He's been busy collecting seashells
And making castles in the sand
The warm wind brushing his skin
As it sweeps across the land

His shadow now growing longer
As he rinses out his pail
He watches a flock of seagulls
On such gracious wings they sail

His mother calls his name
As the sun starts sinking fast
How he wishes time stood still
So this moment could always last

He'll return again tomorrow
With his spade and pail in hand
He'll find peace and tranquility
On the warm golden sand

Karilea & Paul

Thank you so much for your comments and I'm so glad you liked the picture I painted.  I actually wrote this after first seeing a picture of a blond headed boy at the beach but I didn't know how to put the picture on so you just have to rely on my words to try and paint the scene instead.

Take care....Sue

Thanks so much for you words.  I adore the beach and spend a lot of time there, no matter what time of the year.

I've seen that picture Sue and this reminds me of the wonderful peacefulness it portrays!
Lovely write my dear poet friend.  Come from a land down under!

Sue:  This painted a familiar scene.  We always spent as much time on the Oregon Coast with our kids, as we could. Not quite the same type of ocean, but the rest of it is the same!
