wrapped around a Mississippi afternoon
haven't been outside yet
and the residue of a late sleep
still sticks with insistence
on my fragile mood.
There is comfort indoors some days
just resting
trying not to think of how I got here
in a strange home
stranger still, my life turned around.
I remember how I told an Aunt once
when I shouldn't have been old enough to understand
the troubles she was having
how things got worse before they got better.
(although not in those words)
There was nothing in that comment
that any wise old adult had ever passed on to me
it was a gift it seemed (or a curse now)
and I was certain of its accuracy.
Now the volume on my Adult Life channel
has been adjusted so many times
the button is wearing thin
and I'm not sure where all my understanding came from
but today
its bearing down on me too much
and the coastal wind
could not even cool the burn of a heavy Mississippi sunlight
that is too bright in my tired face.
Some would say I'm paying a price
(I disagree with you, by the way)
Today I need peace from being strong
and yet I am better off alone and thinking.

How grave is my condition, for I cannot find the words to say, I need you so.

I know how you mean Temptress. I like your piece very much. Sometimes it is easier just to be alone and think.

take care!!!!

~Slow reading this again. And knowing how important it is to be aware of the weight, to recognize and understand it, and to be able to step back enough to care for your needed self. *Peace Jennifer.

yes, I have to agree with Alicia on this one. . . its important to stop, look, and take stock of you. . . without the influences, the words, the thoughts. . . just you, and your heart. . .

well done. . .
