Listening to every heart

Revelations, Come

Reveal to me, mother
Those disclosures stilled, silent now, hidden,
Secreted by death

Come to me in some form
Some mind
Some how
Now

You left me too early ~
I knew it was too soon ~
For your mother still grieves you
Though gone is her ability
To wring her
Hands
Convincingly

How well you fit your sun sign
Of Cancer
For you Were the center
Of our home,
The nucleus of our galaxy,
Now we are but shooting stars
In your dimming fire

Fire.
You once admitted you would
Rather die from anything
But fire.

Yet the white hot searing pain of cancer,
Your own sign,
Took you by default

You never admitted enough to me
Of who you were,
But crabbed the answers you may have held,
Into secret compartments
Thinking there would be a time
Later

As I face questions that
You would have answered
Had I taken time to ask them.

I listen to the quiet, now,
Hoping to hear a tendril of voice
In shadows that loom o’er me
That will blossom open like a morning glory
Of blue wisdom
And white light inside
As drawn to it, am I
Like a hummingbird to life’s nectar

Your day of birth
Draws near
Little did I know, ten years ago,
That you would weigh
So heavily on my mind
As I step into the shoes of you

Never did I dream at 30
That I should have known by 50
Questions would still arise
Of how to become 70

When you did not.

I still hold your hand, mother,
Even if only in my mind
I still hold your hand.

Aw bright Sunshine,
It's been said before
but when those matters closest to our hearts
force the pen to write of the pain
a new writer takes hold

my soft sympathies for your loss of discovery, SS,
and as you discover your hidden points of mind
you will get to know her more.

Haunting, evocative, beautiful, sad and wise. Yr mom would be proud, Karilea. Maybe she is?

That settles it. I'm scheduling a visit to Mom for a long hug. Your loss, still felt a score of years later is poignant.

Evocative and hauntingly sad, although lovely.

such a powerful loving poem that invites us into the internal struggles of losing loved ones - we should never wait until tomorrow for what we can do today - very good poetry - Paul
