Funny thing, mistakes

Not something that is right
Or wrong
Black or white

Mistakes can occur
Even when we believe,
Truly believe,
We are doing our best

How harshly the word
Can be used
                Having her was a mistake

Sometimes it is a question,
Do you think marrying him is a mistake?

There are times it is not apparent
Until years later
                 I’m haunted by my mistakes

I’ve seen mistakes marry
Currently living these many years
                Happily ever after

I’ve seen mistakes
Born to adversity

I’ve watched people
Flail their fists in the face of adversity
                 Farmers come to mind

When adversity casts
Dark shadows
                 Somewhere the light is shining

So is taking on adversity
A mistake?
Or human nature?

How can one not make a mistake,
Now and then,
If they are truly doing
The best they can?

Do I think
It was a mistake to awake
This morning?

The best I can do
Is emulate Franklin
Listing pros and cons
Even though the con might not gain weight
Until
Life is experienced
With my mistakes.

Ah Karilea, too early in the morning to think so deeply as to be able to come up with good answers to all your deep ponderings here.  All I can think of is...we all make mistakes at times and somehow overcome them.  But, we make mistakes for a reason...hopefully to learn by them.  Yup, they are funny things.
Good write..lots to think about.

a powerful look into the realm of mistakes the substance of religion, redemption, learning, guilt and shame - guess they just are a part of life and how we handle them sort of defines who we are - thanks for the poem with lots to ponder - well written - Paul

Funny thing...

Those mistakes that haunt us...trying to let
them go and just be a real part of life and
learning...

Understanding that we are doing our best
for one simple task...

To not make the same mistake over and over
again...knowing that we will still make them.

Knowing that we are not alone...that there
are so many others like us who have made the
very same mistake...

And...

That we can be forgiven....

I agree with Paul that the mistakes we make shape who we become because without them we wouldn't know anything.

Great piece.

Sunshine,
Theoretically how can one make a mistake, nothing can be repeated. It's all part of what is. But you did write a delicious poem.

Kari darling sister of my heart oh my word this is a deep and thought provoking write darling heart. I don’t know the answer to any of these questions, I can only say that I try to live each day the best way I can. We all make mistakes, sometimes they are huge and sometimes they are minor, I believe the measure of someone is not how they handle success it is in how they handle mistakes. Do they learn from their errors, or do they live their lives running down the same path over and over again.

Wonderful writing darling heart utterly utterly wonderful reading you is NEVER a mistake

Karilea

I have always felt that the negative things in life are our best teachers.  You are certainly contemplative this morning.  Enjoyed all your thoughts, for sure!

A profound piece, Karilea.  You always write with such class, and you make a strong point even more stronger doing so.  There's so many lines in this that really struck me that I don't even know where to begin to praise. You keep getting better each time I read you, well written, it's a keeper of course!

Take care,

Wiser heads have counselled me over the years with statements like--"The name of humanity is imperfection." Also,"If you don't made mistakes, you must not be doing anything."  So I deal with my imperfections and keep sorting out my mistakes. Even those that hang around for a lifetime.

And I have had days when, it would have been better to have stayed in bed.  Two steps forward, one step back.

Lovely, thoughtful poem.

Can you tell me why I made the mistake to pick this poem just before I have to go to bed??????
Now you got me pondering on all the mistakes I've made and going to make LOL won't get any sleep at all. And that would be a big mistake

Such beautiful words you've penned here Sunshine, no mistake in that

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Karilea, this is soooooo wonderfully heartfelt, sweet friend, I believe with all my heart God wants us to make mistakes and not to make us feel follish but to help us learn more about ourselves so we grow and understand them and become compassionate with one another, though sadly it is harder than ever to learn from then mowadays! (sigh) This is a powerful ponderer, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
