Climbing The Wall

There she was, a little girl
in the middle of a square
People passing, not noticing
That she was sitting there

I looked around to find someone
to who she might belong
She was crying and I could see
that there was something wrong

I didn't know what to do
since no one seemed to care
I could not walk away from her
leaving her in despair

So I picked her up in my arms
and I carried her away
I walked and walked untill I found
a wall blocking my way...

I knew for sure we had to be
at the other side of that wall
we had to hurry it was getting dark
night began to fall

I searched and searched for an opening
or perhaps a door
I was running out of time
without finding where I was looking for

Almost desperate I asked the girl
to put her arms around my neck
so she did, and I climbed that wall
for us no turning back

Don't ask me how, but suddenly
we were sitting on the ground
I made it to the other side
with the girl I found

The night was gone the sun was shining
and I turned to her to see
that the little girl I safed
was no one else......... then me.........

This is a delightful write!
You get the message across very well in this.  We have to take care of ourselves in this life!
Good idea and write!

This is very much how it is, in a dream where our subconscious tells us it is time to take care of ourselves...we are always ready to reach out and lift another; rarely do we find anyone to count on, but ourselves...

This shows a great deal of insight, Neeraja, and a lovely way of expressing thoughts that lie deep inside....

You ARE going to like it here...

I thought this would be a sad poem, but turned out wonderful! I like it very much. And I think it's something we can all relate to.
