~Froggiemunk~

This chipmunk has caught a cold
her nose is stuffed, her mind is foggy
with cough and laryngitis
she sounds just like a froggie

too tired to get up
she sleeps the day away
no appetite has she
for food or even for play

at her computer, she tried to sit
and type some poetry
to visit her friends at Piptalk
but she crashed and fell asleep on the keys

for now, she's staying in bed
but soon, she'll be back...you'll see
replying to your poems
and collecting acorns with ease
~

Froggiemunk, froggiemunk
please, please don't cry
before long you will see
poetry with dry eyes

froggiemunk, froggiemunk
please don't try to croak
but drink tea, just for me
to ease your poor, poor throat

froggiemunk, froggiemunk
before you crash on the keys
go back to bed and rest your head
for me? Oh Pretty Please!

Thanks Karilea...
I wrote this yesterday, when I was coughing so hard that my ribs and my back were hurting me....and I really did fall asleep on the keys.
Today I'm a bit better, but I notice that my mind is still foggy and I've been having trouble thinking straight....
the voice is back (sort of) but every time I go to use it, I start coughing and can't get many words out.
This is just not fair!!!!!!!!!

Its meant for froggies and not for chipmunks.

Thank goodness you don't have to prepare to give a speech or anything of THAT nature!  The first time I contracted laryngitis is when my oldest daughter was about 14 months old and running around the house...and consequently GOT INTO much more than she should...her mother couldn't do much but sound like a squeeky wheel with a very red face!

I've been there and done that one too, Karilea....
Only it was a stomach flu and I was constantly throwing up.....and my 2 sons, then ages 4 and 9 were downstairs with a whole bunch of their friends....wrecking our family room....
They are lucky that THEY survived my wrath when I felt better.

Lyra, I sure hope you feel better real soon. There's nothing worse than a summer cold. They linger and linger. This was precious.  Hugs, Marti

that makes her feel so sahd
her nose is reddish rose
and she feels so bahd
but soon she will return
when her head is clear

Thanks Martie...This is a real cute cold!
I think its the worst I've ever had.

It was a bad idea to go to my grandaughter's dance recital, 2 days before having surgery...when my immune system is still down.....and then the nurse in the recovery room, who wouldn't let me sit up.....
A bad combination all around....and I am paying dearly for it now.

I sure hope this doesn't linger because I have been through so much with those treatments....I was looking forward to some time of feeling good now, after this surgery.

oh what a dilemma,
mammal or reptile
doesn't really matter
when feeling so vile

so have a laugh
and get a bit silly
for a rich frogmunk you will be
if you learn to gild the lily

(We can't be having ailing munksters
running about, can we?  Read 2 poems
and call me in the morning.)
lotsa hugs for wellness

It would have been so nice if it were that easy, but this nasty thing got even nastier before it started getting better... and I had to take some acorns with antibiotics and cough syrup...
