Somnolent Slippers

He dresses her in his fandango,
she skirts around in twirl see
with the nipped ankle dog barking,
glee be her dance.

Twice the chair caught the laughter,
swelling like drunken linen
it fell dark and then wrinkled,
leaving scent of Brandywine.

Could she imagine her shoulder
falling down into some golden sunset pool,
she would want his eyes blaming her
for the way all the ladies stopped talking
as the gentleman looked.

But no, is not like that this thunder,
she is quenched enough to moisten
in her sweetest soprano and sing Summertime
to ease her mind out of restless
into spirit somnolent slippers of peace.

(smiles) Awwwwwww, I love this, sweet friend, I just love that wonderful peaceful feeling of sitting on the front porch swing with no sandals on and enjoying the summer and hearing sweet birds sing and hatch from their nests and spread joy! (kiss on cheek) This is lovely, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

ahhh the restlessness..it gets us everytime as the rain comes in...
have you been dancing in your kitchen
Im smiling at you and your groovy alliteration
very very cool Martie-girl

There comes a point when youre not sure why youre still talking,
I passed that point long ago.

Martie....I smiled reading Janet Marie's reply,
as I too could picture you dancing in your kitchen
with this piece humming beautifully in your mind's eye.
Lovely work sweet poetess!

Sometimes the subtle moments are the most powerful in our life.  Excellent writing as always and I couldn't help but smile when I hit your alliterations and they flowed so smoothly off the tongue.  (Yes, I read YOURS aloud ALL the time) Big hugs and much to you my sweet friend.  I can't tell you how good it feels to be back and read your works.
