Listening to every heart

I Pledge Allegiance

I am but a simple flag
I’m blue, and red, and white
A standard flag, I stand for you
In your mornings, and your nights.

I wave for all, I wave for one
By heaven’s blessing, I unfold,
O’er this great land, and honor thee
From Rockies to wheat fields gold

Let me wave o'er fields of green
And cover you, from sea to sea
Let me be your standard strong
that I might keep you free

If I were to live on in your heart,
Then to me, your allegiance is pled
For I cover all free ground
It’s from tyranny to me you’ve fled

Take me up, and bear me proud
For I pledge my allegiance to you
For by God, it’s why I fly, to bear
Your Stars, Your Stripes, Your Skies so Blue

Kari darling sister of my heart this is wonderful you never fail to write anything that I don’t adore, but sometimes your writing particularly sparkles, and this really does.

I have always admired the patriotism of American’s, I think it is something that really unites you as a people, and is incredibly inspiring. We English tend to be very off hand about it, the only time you’ll see the flag of St. George is during the world cup And the Union Jack is rarely flown.

Utterly utterly wonderful writing, it like the Stars and Stripes is magnificent

I wub you too
Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
Oh

Every time I leave US soil, it welcomes me back.  You cite all the strength it stands for, and all the good.

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

This is a wonderful poem, Sunshine... and though I don't have Toe's temper or his training (and my nose isn't even prettier, thanks to a see-saw and a steering wheel *G*) I do share his fury... And so I offer my utmost admiration... for while I'm stomping and gnashing my teeth, you write this wonderful verse. *S* Great job!

I understand this was one idiot atheist that started this garbage....I'd like to take a branding iron, brand a great big "A" on his forehead.....it could stand for Atheist or what he really is....then anyone having that "A" tattooed on his forehead couldn't say the pledge....

Ya know, after all this crap about NOT saying the pledge in schools being an issue again,
I APPLAUD you for writing and posting this.
Big Hugs to you.
GOD bless America.....

I think that Allen J. sang it best when he sang

"Did you burst out in pride for the red white and blue,
for the heroes that died
just doin what they do,
did you look up to heaven to find some kind of answer.....

I think it is most opportune that I review 13 replies...and say Thank You, each and every one of you, for standing with me on this poem.

I hope you will have honor in your heart, a catch in your throat, and your pride intact, this Fourth of July weekend.

We have a wall here at work where we place "thought/saying of the day".
I am going to print this and hang it there today!
Excellent ....

You know, I think this is one of the best flag pictures I've seen. It fits perfectly with your poem, and your poem fits perfectly in my heart. Enjoyed.

I will not bend to the cowardice of a silent judgement.
