~Me & My Beautiful Nephew~
One of Life’s Perfections…

I miss the way your little walk-
seems so familiar to me,
The need to snuggle close to you-
Something “big boys” never need…

Could it be the similarity-
that you hold so fair?
closer than my own daughter,
With palest locks of baby hair?

Could it be your actions-
That remind me of myself?
The sweetest grin of innocence-
the only childhood I have left?

I remember holding you so tight-
when your mommy needed sleep,
You slept upon my own little one-
Who had yet the world to see…

Now you both are growing fast-
and you, with your first birthday,
I wish we could be closer sweets-
To snuggle in auntie ways…

I see myself in you sweet one-
as each day sets the sun…
Remember auntie misses you-
My perfect nephew, Austin…

Open arms can be the most fragile in the world...

That hasta be one of the most adorable kids I've seen. The poem's a bit of a mind trip, considering my monstrous older brother is named Austin, but I'll just ignore that.

So lovingly touching. I remember when...

Throw your heart out in front of you
And run ahead to catch it.
