Naked Joy
By Larry Chadwick

It was when they were just five and two,
Far more innocent than me or you.
Occasionally, together they would take a bath,
And I could see them splash and always hear the laughs.

When the bubbles were finally gone,
And their pajamas not yet on,
There was still time to have some more fun,
So naked through the house they would run.

The giggles and the laughter not fully played out,
In their bare condition they would scream and shout.
Squeaky clean and exhausted finally dressed for bed,
On their knees short prayers the last thing that they said.

I smile now as I did then,
And long for those times again…
Gone but not forgotten are the memories,
Of Larry and of Ginger experiencing joy with ease.

Thank you Larry. Not only do I love your poem, but it made me think of those times when I would have to chase my daughter, and fight to get her into her jammies

What a delightful reminisce...
brings me memories of a much
younger time with my own brother...
and the walls of water waves
we would create...
thanks for this

How you touch my heart, once again. This is a special memory of mine as well. I always remember their total exuberance, and how much I envied their innocence...

Beautiful Larry!

Larry darling boy Oh how utterly utterly  I love I love it utterly utterly. The feelings of joy and delight are exquisitely written darling heart, absolutely exquisite. I remember the wonder of chasing Krissy, Paul and Emma, when they were supposed to be getting their night things on.

You know I love this don’t you? Of course you do. Absolutely perfect writing

mine would run from her diaper changes...she knew purity and fun when she was a year and a half old; she liked to laugh at me, chasing her around the house, diaper in hand. Boy do I miss those days. Now she runs TO me....

Oh, Larry!  I remember doing that...and it doesn't seem like as long ago as it was!  I suggest we have "annual naked joy" day, when we all vow to get squeaky clean and run around the house in nakey bliss, in honor of days of yore!  What do you think?  It could be PIP's first annual "dance like nobody's watching" day. He He!  I really enjoy your posts, Larry, but I think this is one of my favorites!

Just a thought. Why not require that all wars be fought in the nude. That should disencourage a lot of fat, ugly generals.

Laughing at Paladin big time!  Oh my - put me in front that would stop the war for sure!

Larry, how lucky the three of you were, I always wished to have a brother or sister to play with.  Memories are made of this to borrow a phrase, and you surely made me smile at a Father's love.

Nothing means more to me than faith,
