This poem is not made to offend anyone. I am trying to make people understand the individuality of the belief of their own faith and the tolerance needed for other opinions.

God, I know you got mad
Creating all those languages
In all those races of creeds of confusion
But why did you have to create so many tears
That a waterfall will not stop them

In God’s name why are there so many zealots
Proclaiming their undying faith
In the alliance of exterminating other divine beliefs
In the sterilization of the perfect race
Is this not what God did not want, one voice

Can we not hold hands in God’s light
In the peace of understanding His message
In divine illumination of other people’s prayers
In whatever teaching they hold true to their hearts
And allow others the freedom of their faith

If I speak against a Jew must I become anti-Semitic
Speak badly about a Moslem to become an infidel
Use the wrong word in front of a Baptist to become a sinner
Is the only way to salvation being saved as a Protestant
While Catholics have the only way to heaven
What religion is right all the time
Or are they all human creations with human frailties

God, I can not hold back the tears
Here is one for a Jew, Moslem, Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, …
And thousands more religions
Including hundreds more for those that believe
In some sort of higher being

My eyes are swollen for the peace God instilled in me
To respect the religions of the world
While others crusade in wars of ideology
Sending millions to a land with no more fears
Their dried tears being remembered in rainbows

Let me offer a prayer in whatever language you choose
Translate my heart of tears against hatred and injustice
Against any form of insanity
That makes one race better than another one
Or making one religion annihilate another

D.L.Y.--

Interesting and timely poem.

My thought--God by any other name would still be God.

I came across a quote by Martin Buber in which he said, "There is so much evil done in the Name of God, that I am sure that He would like to change His Name."

This poem needs to be read.  Thanks for posting.

I agree with Bridgett, it NEEDS to be read.
I love the way you've seen what so many others refuse to.

I've read it and I agree with it; I may not believe in God, I may think that most religions are pushy, human created zealots . But I do how ever think that all people should be themselfs, why would we all be born different if we were suppost to be, act, do and think exactly the same ...
Here's to your faith and the faith of your neibour .
And your right, I think everyone should read this .
Great poem, L.of.L. Tom .

I don't think it's got anything to do with God.
God created man a free moral agent. Otherwise we would all be puppets.
Thankfully he did that.
If we choose to abuse that privlege then the responsibility rests on us.
Man has been given every chance available to try and govern himself properly and with success but has failed miserably!
Scientists have concluded that we (mankind) because of a love of money and power have ruined the earth.
Mankind causes most of these tears himself. While inherited imperfection causes the rest of them...My heart goes out to the sick and infirmed because of that.
I firmly believe that after thousands of years of unsuccessful administration that mankind will eventually have to realize that only divine intervention on a global scale, will cure the problems the world faces. Too late for man to fix it himself.
God didn't instill thoughts of selfishness and greed in the hearts of men....They developed that on their own. But man has always developed ways to govern himself through his own understanding.

During the second world war ministers and priests were called "Skypilots"
This song by Eric Burdon sums up the basics of that trash.....

He blesses the boys as they stand in line
The smell of gun grease and the bayonets they shine
He's there to help them all that he can
To make them feel wanted he's a good holy man
     Sky pilot.....sky pilot
     How high can you fly
You'll never, never, never reach the sky

He smiles at the young soldiers
     Tells them its all right
He knows of their fear in the forthcoming fight
Soon there'll be blood and many will die
Mothers and fathers back home they will cry
     Sky pilot.....sky pilot
     How high can you fly
You'll never, never, never reach the sky

He mumbles a prayer and it ends with a smile
     The order is given
     They move down the line
But he's still behind and he'll meditate
But it won't stop the bleeding or ease the hate
As the young men move out into the battle zone
He feels good, with God you're never alone
He feels tired and he lays on his bed
Hopes the men will find courage in the words that he said
     Sky pilot.....sky Pilot
     How high can you fly

You'll never, never, never reach the sky
You're soldiers of God you must understand
The fate of your country is in your young hands
     May God give you strength
     Do your job real well
If it all was worth it
     Only time it will tell

     In the morning they return
     With tears in their eyes
The stench of death drifts up to the skies
A soldier so ill looks at the sky pilot
     Remembers the words
     "Thou shalt not kill"
     Sky pilot.....sky pilot
     How high can you fly
You never, never, never reach the sky

Do you really think a LOVING God would appoint such men to oversee the death of millions of young men!  Huh! I say no! Man appointed himself into those positions!

Yes the tears are sad! But there will come a day when man will be ruled by a theocracy. If that doesn't happen then we will al be gone and sooner than we think.
Realism I am thinking.....I know many others have their point of view!
