I was sitting in my motel- While the rain came down outside. Another small-town rodeo, I wouldn't get to ride. Sure, they'll refund our entries- That's just a hundred bucks. When you're "going down the road"- That's nothing but hard luck. I bucked off in Fort Stockton- "Missed out" in Del Rio... The money in my bank account, Is running pretty low. I turned thirty-five this year, I know that's getting old... It's about time that I realized I'll never win the gold... I'll never make the Finals- Like my friends all said I would... Back in the early nineties I was riding mighty good. No "ten head in Vegas"- No buckle made of gold... For me no fame or fortune... When at last my story's told- But when my life is over- And the Champions are named... Just say he gave it all he had- And needs not be ashamed. |

  (big hugggsssssss) Oh John, you have nothing to be ashamed of, for perhaps you didn't make it all the way to the finals, but you gave it your best shot, and there is no other cowboy like you here, so you are our original wondferful CowBoy poet!
