This gray blue day
stretches out in slats
touching me awkward
“What is the matter?”
I ask Mother Nature
She greets me welled up
ready to spill buckets
I am understanding eyes

I walk the porch
in static air, knowing
the rains are just around the edges

What is that sense of yellow
that hovers the skin
just before storms

Why are we allowed to feel
before we see
things
so differently
than we hear them

Like breathing
Like your heartbeat
The sound of things breaking
inside your own body
Lightening

Happiness
feels yellow
on gray blue days

Thunder rolls all around me
Today I hear nothing,
just sigh sounds

you make the reader feel and smell the rain with the anticipation of your words...
love the "feel" of this whole poem Reggie...
a mix of blues and longing and wonder of things to come.

and how cool is this line of imagery and analogy:

stretches out in slats
touching me awkward

something about that just held me there.
very cool indeed

Beautifully expressed thunderstorm, Regina.

I love rain and thunder and I prefer the grey cloudy days to the bright sunny ones...

It was raining here, when I got up this morning and it just looked so beautiful with everything soaking wet.  It made everything shine...I think a poem is writing itself in my head right now...My muse has returned from a weeks vacation....finally.

I love your poem.

I recognize the feeling so much! The static inside oneself radiates into the air the the yellowness of happiness is being scratched and unsettled by it. Fantastically woven images, sensations, you communicate marvelously!

Oh Regina...I know what you mean...
The storms are about to roll in here...
and I get that feeling as well..
electricity in the air.
Loved this!

well, if ever a blue gray day was put to paper, it would be this...it is so hard to describe the feelings you write about, but you did it so well....the rain clouds are hovering around my edges also, I feel every word of this *hugs*

Sounds foreshadowing. So much for the calm before the storm. I've felt that tense electric heaviness before and it's disconcerting.

Regina

I love the electrified waiting for a storm..makes the ions rage, or something.  We sure need some in California if you have any leftover.  You write so well!

yet another great write! I lvoed each line, and know what it is you saw when you wrote it. For I have seen it too but could not put it so finely into words that describe.

We are having one of those days here in Boston. The air is so yellow thick as we wait for potentially dangerous winds, thunderboomers and lightening. The arthritis in my hip is throbbing but we can always use the rain.  ;-)

I enjoyed this very much. Hugs, Marti

(smiles) Yay!!! Oh my gosh, I know just how you feel, I too get soooo excited when a storm comes rolling in because we don't get  alot of rain where we live, it's a desert out here in Denver, and the rain just makes me happy! (sigh) I love this, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Regina, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
