My mommy bought me a songbird,
It's yellow and green and white,
But this morning it wouldn't sing a word,
Something's just not right?

I went to kitchen to tell my mom
"My bird won't sing anymore?"
She said, "Just get dressed or you'll be late,
Pick your clothes up off the floor."

My bird just kind of lays there,
No sound nor chirps or song,
Why doesn't my bird sing anymore?
Maybe dad will know what's wrong.

I went to the den to ask my dad,
He knows most every thing,
"Dad" I said, "That bird I have,
Just lays there and won't sing."

My dad replied, "I'm late for work,
Hand me my case and lunch,
And don't be late for school or else,
And hurry or you'll miss your bus."

Why doesn't my bird sing anymore,
So sweetly like he did back then?
I guess when I get home from school,
I'll just wind it up again!

Yer a doll!

Here ya go:

And Your Bird Can Sing
The Beatles
Lennon/McCartney

You say you've got everything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don't get me
you don't get me

You say you've seen the seven wonders
And you bird is green
But you can't see me
you can't see me

When your prized possessions
start to weigh you down
Look in my direction
I'll be round, I'll be round

When your bird is broken
will it bring you down
You may be awoken
I'll be round, I'll be round

You tell me that you've heard every sound there is
And your bird can swing
But you can't hear me
You can't hear me

This is sad that your parents didn't listen to you, when your little bird didn't sing anymore.

This builds such sadness, verse by verse... and then ends with a twist and a grin. *S* Excellent work and delightful read! *S*

Aw, I think this is cute, a little mean though, since you have us thinking the little guy is dead

Toe,
That's one of the few things you got right.
Have a good one. PS. Subtle, clever.

(big hugggssssssss) Oh Toerag, I'm so very sad when you were younger your parents ignored you like that, sweet friend, every child should be warched over and cared for and no one deserves to be lonely ever, my heart goes out to you and I hope they've forgiven you! (sigh) This is so very sad but well said, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Toerag, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Toe,
your bird doesn't sing because my canary's got cicles under his eyes.

You are such a nutcase, Toe.  I guess that's why I make sure to read your posts first!  Love the laughter.
