The Why of Because

No longer do I ask the question of somebody else
Nor do I stop and wonder at the changes in myself
I gaze into the looking glass and see a stranger there
It’s not the person that was me, for I’m not anywhere
I’m floating somewhere in between the mountains and the sea
Until they find a cure for this, my image is not me

It is not I who sits before the mirror’s gazing mask
That does not have expression to attempt once more to ask
The questions that have haunted me, for no one seems to know
What triggered this deceptive ghost that makes me walk so slow
I’ll stop to watch a sparrow nest, but never will I pause
To pose an empty questionwith a “Why” and no “Because”

I sometimes feel quite helpless, for I have too weak a voice
To alter or deter this ghost from pathways of its choice
So silently and steadily, the phantom slowly rose
Deciding where my footsteps fall, a fate I never chose
I sit before the looking glass just as I did before
I’ll never see myself again, until they find a cure

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Elizabeth, this feels so sad, sweet friend, I hope everything is OK, for I know this feeling so well too where I reflect on my childhood and now see myself a ssomeone completely new and wonder if I must fit this body! (sigh) Keep your chin up, sweet friend, our thoughts are all with you, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Elizabeth,
Only you could have written this. And one thing is for sure your writing ability has never left you nor the wonderful person that you are. Sy

The image may not be you...but find a mirror that reflects the soul and you'll see yourself....and in all your splendor, too

Liz,

there really aren't any words that I can use here. . . just to say that I'd really like to see that mirror. . .

thanks. . .

All day long, I've been frustrated and wanting to kick something... If your mirror is distorting the loveliness we see shining from your heart, I know now what my target will be. *S*

This is beautiful, Elizabeth... and so very touching.
