Since the day I was born
you've been there next to me
giving
me a guiding hand
teaching me how to be a man
your undivided attention to your family
giving us everything you had
showing me your passions and loves
which became my passions and loves
all the happiness you brought to our lives
you protected us
you provided for us
you loved us
you shared with us
how did you become such a great father
without having one of your own?
you gave all you had every step of
the way and now your work is complete
you did your job here better than anyone
else could have
you were my father and my best friend
a perfect example of everything
a father, husband and son should be
you always made me so proud
now you're with your father
hes been waiting a long time to see you
I'll miss you dearly but I know
you're someplace better now
you said life goes by pretty fast sometimes
so I know I'll see you soon enough
thank you for being so much to us
I love you dad

This is a beautiful, sincere tribute, and you do him justice and proud..not only in your words for him but also in the things you learned from him and will carry on. There is no greater way to honor him than to pass on his truths and examples. Your words above show that you already know that.
I'm sorry for your loss, heart-hugs to you and your family in this difficult time.

Bryan,
I am so sorry to read of the loss of your father. I wish not to imagine. But as a father of some experience I can tell you do him proud. It appears you reflect those things that mattered most to him. The best possible honor to his memory. Hopefully you will post more poems in memory of your dad. I would love to read them. May you find comfort in your time of sorrow and strength in being his son. Courage and peace to you.

Its impossible not to she tears over this one, BJ...
I know that your father put up an incredible fight, and I am so sorry that he lost the battle.
But he will be watching you now, from a better place.....free from his pain.
And he will be able to guide you well... he will be your guardian angel.

My first husband died of cancer in May of 99 and I still feel his guidance.

Your Dad will be there for you, you will be able to feel his presence, if you open your heart.  It won't be anything big, like making an appearence.....but just the little subtle things...and you may not realize until afterward, that it was the hand of your father guiding you along.
And you can ask for his guidance also....
During my first husband's illness, I had gained 50 lbs and I asked him for help in losing it...
The next day there was icky white gunk all over everything in the refrigerator.  I couldn't figure out where it came from, but I cleaned it all up and threw away just about everything.  Finally, on the refrigerator door....I found the source of it.
A bottle of pineapple banana juice had exploded.
So I went to the supermarket to replace all of that food and then realized that I was starting all over again, so why should I buy the same old fattening stuff....
I bought fruit, veggies, yogurt etc.  And when I got home to put them away.....I finally realized that I had asked him to help me to lose weight and he was a prankster.
That would have been exactly fitting of him...
I ended up losing 80 lbs and have kept most of it off.
Sorry for the long story, but I just wanted to show you that your Dad's guidance might not be immediately apparant to you....but it will be there.....
I offer you my sincere condolences and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this depressing time.  If you need to talk...please feel free to email me.
