They knew when they met they were not quite the same
They cursed Mother Nature and gave her the blame,
But a love burned within
The expanse of their skin
And they vowed they could win,
Overcoming all that ....
Though he, yes, he was a dog, you see
And she was a fluffy cat.

So he tried to learn how to purr
And she tried to learn how to bark
And she tried to learn how to bury a bone
While he tried to see in the dark
And their method of mating
Was SO devastating
Forever creating
An unending spat .... -
For he, yes, he was a dog, you see
And she was a fluffy cat.

There are rules, it is known, that are written
By the movement of Destiny's pen,
That apply to all puppies and kittens
As well as some women and men,
And, ignoring these laws
Bring out dangerous flaws,
Often fatal because
It's an unbending fact ......

That an eagle can't swim
And a whale can't fly
And we can't change our natures,
As hard as we try,
A dog is a dog and a cat is a cat .....
And that's all there is to that.

(giggles in delight) Talk about "the truth about cats and dogs!" LOL! (BIG HUGGGSSSSS) Yep, the fact is that they are rivals and it seems nothing may ever change that, hehehe! (smiles) This is so very clever, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Balladeer, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

’Deer dearest heart this is splendiferous I love this, I loved it when I went raiding the archives to read it. There are so many of your fabulous writes there, and I'’ soooooooo glad you’re pulling some of them out.

You know there’s absolutely no one who tells a tale, be it shaggy dog tail or fluffy cat as well as you, you have a consummate skill and I always love to see it in action. This is wonderful, the abominable duo will both be here tomorrow and so I shall be conspicuous by my absence. They BOTH will absolutely love this, as I do. I love it utterly utterly utterly. This is purrrrrrrrfect

’Deer hi there, Ahhh my darling sister hasn’t got to this one then, that’s good, I’m before her on this one. Again this shows your wit and humour and had me grinning, considering how you’ve just had me crying this is of course only fair. Wonderful writing and I love it thank you for the huge grin.

Yes, a dog is and dog
and a cat is a cat
I do most heartily
agree with that

But they're not so different...
they do both have fur
and that pup can't resist
that pussycat's purrrrrrr

He's a canine player -
thinks he'll win her with lines
Says "What's new pussycat?"
Tries to charm the felines

But she just keeps walking
Independence her name
She refuses to settle
For his puppydog game

Seems that dog's in a rush
To find him a mate
But that cat has 9 lives
For purrfection she'll wait

Balladeer-
Thanks for the bit of fun inspiration.
I'm liking this one a lot, and there is
much underlying truth here.
Hugs,
~Vicky
