~Tomorrows the Day~

    

Tomorrow's eyes watch me close
the fear I wear on my sleeve
if not for my beautiful outfit
I swear, I'd just get up and leave

but I will be wearing a lovely gown
with delicate flowers of blue
and if I bend over a bit too far
the world will have quite a view

and I'll consider myself lucky
if they give me an adult size
small as I am, they think I'm a kid
so it barely touches my thighs

they say they will give me a cocktail
to calm my raging nerves
but a vein in my arm will swallow it all
leaving my mouth free for four letter words

I usually like them stirred, not shaken
garnished with orange rind
but this one, I won't get to choose
its the intravenous kind

"you ask too many questions"
the nurse will kindly say
cuz she doesn't have the answers
and so, her rules... I must disobey

she's lucky I'll be sedated
or I'd really let it fly
no one bosses this chipmunk around
if she knew me, she wouldn't even try

but none of this really matters
as long as I get good news
the pain will only be temporary
its the fight for my life, I won't subdue

so I'll do whatever it takes
even wear their glamourous gown
I'll let my veins drink their cocktail
because...I want to keep hanging around
