Dear Ann, I have this problem
In a quandary for what to do
And so I write this letter
To ask for help from you

My mother doesn’t love me
My father is never here
My husband has left me
For a girl of a younger year

My neighbor’s dog keeps barking
My boss puts his hand up my skirt
My son wears a Mohawk
My daughter eats too much dessert

I’m at my wit’s end you see
Hope you can sort out this mess
And if you do, I promise you
Your name I’ll always bless

The letter, returned to sender
Came back to me today
On the front it in letters bold
Ann Landers has passed away.

**Ann Landers passed away Saturday at the age of 83.

I watched a biography on Ann about a year ago - she was an icon for sure!!!

Your poem exquisitely describes the gamut of requests she would have received, and is a wonderful way to remember the lady in her passing.

Create something infinite today - Smile!!!

My late grandmother used to write a column in our local paper, back in the 50's pretty much the same as Ann Landers.
As a kid I can remember so many times listening to her reading and agreeing or disagreeing with Ann Landers and the emotion she could put into the moment.
...
Lots of memories here

That was a lovely and very fitting tribute, PDV...
Apparantly she was not the first Ann Landers.
She and her sister won a contest to replace her after the first Ann Lander's died in 1955, and they have been writing Dear Abby and Ann Landers ever since.
But according to our newspaper report, Ann Lander's daughter had been writing her column for the past year because shw had been ill...
Thanks for the lovely tribute to a real American icon.

You summed up many of the questions that were presented to her over the years.
You did that very well I must say!
NIce writing and tribute!

(big hugggssssss) Oh Sharon, I am so sorry to hear this news, sweet friend, I too knew Ann even when I didn't grow up during the pinnacle of her career and she truly is someone many will always remember! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
