I borrowed fifty dollars-
From my cousin Don McBride.
I said, "I'll pay you later-
But you know I've got to ride".

I entered in Fort Stockton-
And the stock I drew was good...
I made it to the short go,
Like I always knew I could.

Now it's rodeo for breakfast-
For lunch, and supper too...
You ask me why I follow it-
I say, "That's what I do."

You ask me if I'll settle down?
I hate to make you cry...
But I love it, much more than you-
You asked me not to lie.

I know the years will bring me down
I may regret my views...
And even might say I was wrong...
But, dear, you made me choose.

I'm sorry but I have to go-
I don't have time to fight...
My entries are in Santa Fe...
I ride tomorrow night.

Good story poem – it goes very well with your membership name. It gave me the impression of a ‘high noon’ love affair. Excellent work!
