(This is a little shift for me from my usual style, I was in Hollywood during vacation and I have always admired the wise words of James Dean and to me, he is synonymous to the youth of the world today, he is a trademark of pop culture and psychology and this catchy lyrics came to me... The italized line in this is a quote from James Dean himself that I value so much!)

Jimmy Dean
By: Noah Eaton
6/22/02

Call me your commerical icon or your sex symbol
Call me your young generations reflection through the window
But you know I'm just another lonely actor
Just playing the victim to every director

City of Angels blessed me coincidentally
Take the time to consider truth and belief
I'm just another misunderstood man behind rose-colored glasses
So hop into my Porsche and we'll have everyone dancing...

Like Jimmy Dean
I'm your wildest American dream
Cut your deck and count your cards
At the Grand Prix you better be betting on me
Cause I'm Jimmy Dean
I am the youth of the nations' synecdoche
And you wouldn't want it any other way
If I'm not mistaking...

My feet are not built to fit the shoes of any prom king
But I can bring a smile to anyone, even to Steve McQueen
"Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today."
You're a rebel without a cause, believe me, I'm just this same way

I'm Jimmy Dean
I'm your wildest American dream
Cut your deck and count your cards
At the Grand Prix you better be betting on me
Cause I'm Jimmy Dean
I am the youth of the nations' synecdoche
And you wouldn't want it any other way
If I'm not mistaking...

Rise up, children
Rise up and enjoy the show
Rise up, children
Rise up and let it go...

I'm Jimmy Dean
I'm your wildest American dream
Cut your deck and count your cards
At the Grand Prix you better be betting on me
Cause I'm Jimmy Dean
I am the youth of the nations' synecdoche
And you wouldn't want it any other way
If I'm not mistaking...
You're Jimmy Dean
You're the everything
Be what you will
But please don't be me
You're Jimmy Dean
I am everything you claim to believe
But you're in charge
You have to be the star of your own scene...

"Underneath your clothes there's an endless story..."

Shakira

I know not much about James Dean, Noah, but your write was very descriptive of what his presence must have been like.  I like how you compare it with today's generation.  You are such a wonderful talent!  I hope you had fun on your "trip" to CA.

Wow ,how fantastic this is.
I always felt I was a rebel without a cause, myself. I think you did him justice here.
(I still want to hear about your vacation, in my old home)

Hey Noah

You were so close to where I live...wish I had known..I could have given you a hug.  Jimmy Dean was part of my growing up years.  Enjoyed your poem!

Noah...I think this poem is you at your best....You wrote this so very well...
I remember Jimmy Dean, but not really well because I was just in 7th or 8th grade when he died...
but I know that his legend lives on.

Sounds like you enjoyed your LA vacation, Noah! Of course, we don't have to die young like James Dean!

Read the title and thought this was going to be about sausages of something, or maybe the pop song somebody wrote about him.  Why, I wondered?  You had my curiosity up.
Ok, I got it, JAMES Dean!  I don't recall that he was ever know as "Jimmy", though.  Jimmy Dean was another person, who sang country music (and probably wrote it too) and sold sausages in TV commercials, long after James Dean was gone.

Some of us remember both of them.  You had me confused, temporarily.
Interesting write.
