Memories
By Larry Chadwick

They are reflections of our past,
That are made by actions of today.
A simple thing of our own making,
Worth our effort of investing, anyway.

Besides, once they have been made,
They can’t ever be taken from you.
So invest in memories of your own,
It’s the wisest thing that you can do.

For if you are counting on the future,
The past may mean more than you will know.
Tomorrow may be too late for planning,
And yesterday may be all you have to show.

So live today for what it offers,
A chance to love your family.
The dividends you get are double,
There will be today and your memory.

Dear Larry right you are, indeed we need to invest in some memories for they are what keep us going. I hope things are O'K for you and your family, take care.

Tracie,
Things are "O'K" only because of the good memories we invested in faithfully. Thanks.

Larry hi there it’s so wonderful to read your wise and beautiful poem, memories, the good ones are held within our souls, you have a way of reaching for those in your writing. This is excellent and thank you for filling my memory with some sweet remembrance.

I’m glad you’re managing to get through each day, your positive attitude is wonderful to witness. Love and light as mum would say

lots of love

one day to short
a life not fully lived
you go on like clockwork
not a second to lose.
Nothing takes your pain away
Here Is a cup of love
Look into the darkness
and you will see the light
look up at the sky and
someone will venture back to you

Godbless
and I loved your poem, lots of feeling is being expressed. I love you!

The greatest thing about memories are, no one can ever take them from you, and you can pull them out and relive them anytime you want to hon......
Big big hugs to you.

Welcome back, Larry...I love your wisdom here.
Having gone through a similar experience, I know that you are right and you have expressed it so poetically well.

What I have learned during the past few years is that no one...not one single one of us, is ever guaranteed a tomorrow.
Today and our memories of yesterday are all that we have...
and life doesn't last forever, so we should never forget to enjoy it.

~ welcoming you back hugs

Larry

I know you cherish your memories...and making more is a great idea.  Never quite thought of it that way, but each minute is a memory for the next.  Excellent poem!

There is so much wisdom in your words, and so nicely written, as well.  As long as we remember our loved ones, they are never really gone.  Your writing will always help to do that.

Heaven Bless you and your family.{{{hugs}}}

Assuredly...one must grip life firmly by its horns and not let it drag him along and he must dutifully write poetry so that his memories won't ever fade...
