I walked the realms of mystical
to seek the truth of life
in pathways antithetical
to suffering and strife

I sought for peace and harmony
within my soul and out
eternal in serenity
to learn what life's about

I wandered in religious rite
the old and very new
to sort through life both deep and trite
and seek a meaning true

I looked at faith's repentance plan
and suffered through the dark
wondering if the way of man
was the path or just the spark

I celebrated yin and yang
to find my peace within
followed the moon and Gods of Pan
and turned away from sin

I practised every kind of faith
conventional and not
fasted, prayed became a wraith
to find those things forgot

I've trialled all the in and outs
in the end my course is plain
it's not what religion's all about
but through struggle there is gain

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Keth darling sister of my heart and keeper of heaven’s lights this is simply exquisite, I truly love this diamond of light and emotion from you. You have an amazing ability to write with such clarity. And this had me utterly entranced by your writing. Your words like jewels illume the mind with flashes of brilliance, which carry the thoughts deep within to mellow my heart.

As always darling heart you excel and I love it I love it utterly utterly. This is superb writing darling girl, you’ve managed to show with these words the uniqueness of our souls and our search for truth which I find always in you and YOU are indeed wonderful.

I love this utterly utterly utterly

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
Oh

Beautiful write Kethry.
Love the closing two lines...

Great poem, Keth - It truly is the journey that is the destination, isn't it?

This takes a point a lot of people don't seem to realize about religion and puts it very eloquently. Religion is not supposed to *be* the all encompasing meaning...it is supposed to *give* a meaning and understanding through experiencing it. Well put.

Very well said, Keth...
Religion is not about praying in a certain kind of building or whether you celebrate Christmas or Chanukah or Kwaanza....Easter or Passover or Ramadan
Religion is about God and love an prayer
religion is very personal.

~ thanks for sharing this, hugs

True enough. I love the movement in the poem, and the images.

Are we all but the same,  seeking to find..
Looking for the comfort.

Oh,  the joy of just that...

Beautifully done Lynne...
