One Last Sigh
By: Noah Eaton
6/19/02

Oh, you know I have seen
The sun collapse on the mountains
As I'm standing in the middle of this desert
Hell is spreading his fingers
As I'm watching these kingdoms shatter
Cry and slowly
Fade to vapor

The purple majesties are bleaching to heliotrope
Tell my children of a place that used to be green
What an irrelevant anecdote
Something that used to be chaste now is trashed
I've got to get away
Before the halos in my childrens eyes are all engulfed with fire...

Shrubs and trees fall and burn to ashes
Tomorrows skies are filled with poison gases
Is all that's happening
Is all that's occurring
Home is surely where the heart is
But the fires are making havoc
I can't bear to stay here
I've suffocating here

Please...let the rain fall
Please...let the rain fall

Oh, you know that I've heard
At night flames chanting in calando
Sensual hysterical laughing crescendo
Picking up forests and glaciers
That dance in this dragons jaws
It's muy caliente
I am dancing in this desert
Feasting with the coyotes
Struggling on all that's left in this drought

"There used to be something more!"
Seems like such a sore metaphor
What will the children I have in the future say
When all my home has incinerated away..

Shrubs and trees fall and burn to ashes
Tomorrows skies are filled with poison gases
Is all that's happening
Is all that's occurring
Home is surely where the heart is
But the fires are making havoc
I can't bear to stay here
I've suffocating here

Please...let the rain fall
Please...let the rain fall

What did we ever do to deserve this?
Is this what you call unfinished business?
It's aggravating
It's madness
To see all that was brandished
All of Mother Nature's nature I was blessed to have sight of
Only exists in a memory's asylum
Please answer
Please tell me...
What are you going to do with me...

Shrubs and trees fall and burn to ashes
Tomorrows skies are filled with poison gases
Is all that's happening
Is all that's occurring
Home is surely where the heart is
But the fires are making havoc
I can't bear to stay here
I've suffocating here
Shrubs and trees fall and burn to ashes
Tomorrows skies are filled with poison gases
Is all that's happening
Is all that's occurring
Home is surely where the heart is
But the fires are making havoc
I can't bear to stay here
I've suffocating here

(Sorry for a downbeat write, the fire is worsening in Colorado here and it makes me feel so very sad to see all those beautiful places in the mountains I loved falling and how our futures children will not get to see what we used to be able to! )

A sad situation...and what is madening is that a lady that works for the forest serice started the fire buring a letter from her ex...these are the one's we employ to protect us?
Whatever happened to throwing things we don't want into the trash can.
Hope no lives are lost...
The forest can be replanted...but it will take many many years to return to its original splendor...James

He giveth and He taketh away...But I am sure
that one day it will all return again...

Praying that the end to the fires is near.

Thanx for this, Noah....

I'm sure it is horrible to see this happening so close to you. I think always of the thousands of forest creatures that are lost.
Very tragic, and I hope it is controlled soon.

The only consolation in this tragedy is that life will be reborn. Prayers to you. ThisDiamond

Oh sweet Noah...I know you are in Colorado
but I do hope not too close to the fires.
What a horrible sight on the TV news tonight.
It will take many many years to replace all those beautiful trees....
Good write...that had to be addressed.

Defenseless it lies
for the knife stroke of man
and the torch of greed
Oh, but it writhes in agony
at the hand of man
Nature

Hotly and considerately written in the pathos
of someone who cares, Noah, that be YOU, amigo!

Oh my sweet Noah! I sure hope you aren't anywhere near those fires. And, I hope they are put out real soon. You take care.

Hey darlin...I hate to see any form of beauty destroyed. Homes..lives..must be protected..prayers for you and yours.. I believe it is amazing though how the earth..repairs itself after a fire. May the rains come hope.

Sincerely,
Reg

You're so right Noah.
There is nothing, it seems, more heart breaking deadly than forest fires. They gulp up beautiful green soldiers and leave them charred lifeless corpses.
I hope they get them under control right away!
Sadly it will take between fifty to one hundred years to revive the damaged area. Luckily for us mother nature resurrects herself.
