Note: the first prayer was used in the first Digital Passions Newsletter (thanks to Ron). The second poem was just written a couple of months after I joined the forum here. I repost it in answer to a question Brad posed in Philosophy.

~~~
Poet’s Prayer
Why must I write at this hour?
While other mortals sleep?
When all is quiet I will arise
and to my computer will creep.
So full is my soul of words unspoken
of feelings I must share.
I rise again, in the dead of night
and begin my poet’s prayer.
Deliver me from pedantry,
from silly limerick ways.
Give me depth and heart and love
and sometimes, give me praise.
~~~

Poet’s Prayer Upon Reposting

Why must I post again tonight
have I not learned from the past?
Though laboring over this epistle
it will fly, unread to the last.

So full is the forum of new poetry,
some better than others you know,
discouraging me from giving my best
‘cause it’s down to the bottom, it’ll go.

Deliver me from jealousy
from meanness and from spite
Give me patience to peruse
those other poems posted tonight.

Then I pray me down to sleep
When Passions doesn't make a peep
But first I must peruse some more
Fine poetry and prose galore...

Amen... Well done, PdV..

I think you have captured everyone's feelings really well here, PDV...
Its amazing how well this website works when you consider how many really excellent poets post their work here and somehow.....
most of it really does get read.

Thank you for re-posting this one and I pray that it doesn't get to the bottom too fast.

~ hugs on the rise
