Listening to every heart

Elder Berry & Other Thoughts

You were my berry moments
Of elder, and other kinds
You were the Man of her Dreams
And the Father of all of mine

My life of your memories
Started in framed black and white
But you so very, very quickly
Became our loving Knight

I never see a hummingbird
Or hear a chime’s sweet sound
That I don’t think of you
And know that you’re around

I have done my very best
To carry on your grin
To lend a hand, lift a heart,
To see kind souls that lie within

Every person has a father
Some, like you, are the best
Even though, some like us,
Put you through many tests

To say you are here
That you see me now
Keeps our spirits alive
As it should be, somehow

I see you in shadows of black and white
And of the day it took all of your might
To give away your daughter, fully grown
But always know, your heart was home.

Happy Father's Day, Dad

Ah Karilea ... what a beautiful tribute to your Father on this special day of remembrance. Incredible phrasing throughout this heart-warming piece. Loved it, my friend.

Best wishes and hugs,

You write/speak so well in your father's name.
You have carried on exceptionally as a poet with such humanity in your heart.
I know Robert's spirit for living is within you. You have shown us that many many times and we thank him for giving you to us!  I'm positive I speak/write for all here at Passions!

My thoughts echo those of ethome.
Your dad is with you Karilea..
Just as mine is with me, watching, caring, loving as always.
I have a feeling you are much like your Dad.
...Very very special...
Enjoyed this tribute to your Dad,
through my tears of remember..
~Hugs~

Gosh girl....when I get through wiping away
all these tears...darn...

Your Dad was only months older than my own
father....Your own...like mine...was a very
grand man...I am fortunate that I still have
my Dad...and I did remember to take the time
to tell him how much I love him...He is 78
and I love him dearly...

Thanx KJ...thank you for sharing some of the
tenderness of your life with us...
