I'm spending the day with the lad,
Who, over thirty years ago, made me a dad.
We are having so much incredible fun,
He makes me so proud that he is my son.

It is time to celebrate the living,
To him I get to continue with giving.
It is a bitterweet thing to say,
I love my son, but still miss my girl today.

And I know how to keep my priorities straight,
Just a few stories of Ginger in memory we relate.
Sharing wonderful time with my son is the best.
We will maximize whatever time it is we have left.

Larry...

I have shed too many tears today over feelings,
over memories...over those I no longer have.

Yet...again I shed a tear...one for you..

And...even as a tear wells,  I smile...

Knowing that you have Ginger's memories and
your son to share and love...

To all:
Let me tell you about my boy. He has a Harley Buell that is his pride and joy. He borrowed a bike and made an exception for dad yesterday. We made a two hour ride into the Cascades outside Portland and had breakfast at Detroit Lakes. And I drove the Harley...woohoo! Today he is taking me to the GI Joe CART Indy race.

These memories are over the top and at a perfect time. I have the best kids...

And for all of your responses I'll wait until I get home for individual replies. But know I needed this and am ever so grateful. Happy Father's Day to everyone, no matter what.

Happy Father's Day to you, Larry....
I know that it really is bittersweet this year, but you are so smart to spend it with your son and talk of the memories of Ginger.
You are doing everything right.

I remember my first Mother's Day without Eric, but unfortunately, I didn't get to spend it with Victor because he lives so far away....But we did spend a lot of time on the phone reminiscing about Eric.

Always remember though...that life is for the living and not one of us is ever promised a tomorrow, and so we must all make the best of whatever time we have here with each other....and you are doing such a wonderful job of that.

No doubt this isn’t the best fathers day you’ve ever had Larry, but I admire the strength you have to put it into perspective like this. Every day is precious isn’t it? Something we all need to remember.

Okay, I’m jealous…I just scrolled down to read the replies before posting….YOU’RE GOING TO THE CART RACE???? YOU DROVE THE HARLEY????     Do you know how jealous I am??? Lol. You lucky dog you…tell me all about it, I only got to watch the race on TV…and missed the first half hour cause I was napping!!!

Hello Larry

This was such a beautiful, heartfelt piece of writing from your very kind soul.  I didn't realise until now that it was Father's Day for you over there.  We don't celebrate Father's Day in Australia until September.  We're a little backward here down under!! (only joking)

Take care.....Sue

I've not had the best relationship with my father, Larry.  Honestly, you've caused me to consider making another effort.  And ya got to DRIVE the Harley...damn!!!

Forgetting all I'm lacking
Completely and complete
I'll take your invitation
You take all of me

The sweet really can soften the bite of the bitter.  Is it possible to eat chocolates while riding a Harley? No? You could always go for a camel ride with my harem sisters.

Hi! Well you know what I am going to say right!! a whole lot of mushy stuff so there I said it "A whole lot of mushy stuff"... Good I got that over with lol.

I really think you are a great Dad. Your keeping her alive. Each and everyday! There is never a day when I don't think about you and her and how much you all are an amazing family.  I got 2 pet mice today one is really happy hyper and excited. She is also the color of Ginger hence thats her name... and the shoe fits so i'm letting her wear it. I hope you don't mind what I named her.

Also I just want to take a quick moment to say happy fathers day! Your not my Dad but you deserve it and I guess its not really me saying it. I think God is sending a message down from heaven and this is how it reads..

Daddy,
Hi daddy come dance with me
upon heavens pearly white floor.
The music is playing
the angels are swaying
Daddy I love you evermore.
Someday we'll meet again
and until then remember
I'll always love you.

Happy Fathers Day
