Sometimes too hard
Sometimes too critical
Sometimes too distant
Sometimes just right
I wanted to be like my dad
I wanted to be the just right dad
I ask my sons how did I do and
They say…
Sometimes too hard
Sometimes too critical
Sometimes too distant
Sometimes gone to long
Sometimes just right
But I always felt loved dad!!!
I guess I wasn’t all I wanted to be but…
I did always love and they saw it in me

Sometimes we need to critical
Sometimes we need to distant
Sometimes we need gone to long
Sometimes we need to cold.

This is how we learn about what life and love and humanity really is. Being human is being flawed but we always need love. No love is stronger then a parents for a child and if we show love even through our inperfection......all is well in the world.

Great write. Thankyou for sharing this with me.

Welcome to passions!  It is so complicated, yet so simple...being a parent.  If your children knew love, then they learned love..and that's how love keeps moving on.  I much enjoyed your poem!

In this turbulent old world what else can one do?
It sounds to me like you were a great Dad!

Very nice poem!
