Serenity....dear betrothed to another.....Here's my answer to your note poem.......you're late night cool kiddo!
Movements Of Love

Composers, are addicted to movements of love
where the scores are played in the key of dreams.
Happiness is like a rhapsody,
beauty the theme
and the naked heart conducts
love allegros through the soul like spring freshets.

We face the horizon of reality creating compositions,
pilot notes, igniting the heart to
light up our thoughts with
preludes of hope, intermezzo emotions,
minor concertos of personal desire..always
racing toward the rests of a major finale.

The truth is, movements of love can fade in
a sonata with moods and rhythms out of key.
An intimate composition left incomplete
like cash paid for unrequited love.
Cycloramas of love and sensation halted
once again.....
awaiting a composer addicted to movements of love.

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

"why the rhyme?"
I am lyric--
we are time.

I am just photograhper.
I write the pictures of the hurt...

I'd still wish I could dance ONE dance with you...tell ya what? I am burning a cd...and? you tell me YOUR choice, and I promise, it will be played, and I will dance for you!

Well this might seem odd but here's my request......

A Whiter Shade Of Pale   by Procol Harum

We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray

And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale

She said, 'There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well've been closed

She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,'
though in truth we were at sea
so I took her by the looking glass
and forced her to agree
saying, 'You must be the mermaid
who took Neptune for a ride.'
But she smiled at me so sadly
that my anger straightway died

If music be the food of love
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
and attacked the ocean bed

And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale

Thanks southern belle you're the best!  I'll enjoy that dance!

Well they may look at you funny but maybe not......I thought it was much more appropriate than my second choice which is my favorite song of all time. Just because it is such a simple song of truth and life....Smoke Gets In Your Eyes........
Your choice of course! However, I'd say the latter is a bit negative considering the occasion....he he have a great day1

Two friends of mine and I were out having a little smoke in my car one night.
After a little laugh we decided to drive to the nearest pizza place. I was really food tripping so I began to drive a little too fast. .......Well, all of a sudden there appeared a set of flashing lights behind me as one of New Brunswick's finest uniformed law enforcers proceeded to stop me for speeding.
One friend and I were sitting in the front seat the other in the back.
The officer approached the car and asked for my drivers license and registration which I produced easily for him.
He then proceeded to say. " Mr True, I'm going to have to fine you. You were going fifty miles an hour in a thirty zone."
My friend in the back seat piped up and said...."That's not possible!"
The officer glanced into the back seat and then disregarded the remark.
I started pleading with the officer and asking for a warning. To which he answered....."I'm sorry but you were going fifty miles an hour in a thirty zone!"
My friend in the back seat piped up again and said....We couldn't have been going fifty miles an hour!"
This time the officer looked at him directly and queried...."And just why couldn't you have been going fifty miles an hour?!?"
My friend said..."CAUSE WE HAVEN'T BEEN OUT AN HOUR!"

The officer actually let us go after having a little chuckle........

It seems like just yesterday, doesn't it?
Procol Harem....didn't they also do that song that started with "Jeremiah is a bullfrog"...or am I mistaking them for someone else?

I loved your poem too!

Vote me in for Whiter shade of pale, although it hardly competes with knights in white satin.

Hey Southern Belle!
I think what you mean is that you'd like to be treated like the words to this old classic song!!

Peel Me A Grape

Peel me a grape crush me some ice
skin me a peach save the fuzz for my pillow
poach me a prawn talk to me nice
you got to wine me and dine me

don't try to fool me, bejewell me
either amuse me or lose me
I'm getting hungry peel me a grape.

pop me a cork, french me a fry
crack me a nut, bring me a bowl full of bon bons
chill me some wine, keep standing by
just entertain me, champagne me
show me you love me, kid glove me
best way to cheer me, cashmere me
I'm getting hungry, peel me a grape.

Here's how to be an agreeable chap
love me and leave me in luxury's lap
Hop when I holler, skip when I snap
when I say, "do it," jump to it

Send out for sctoch, call me a cab
cut me a rose, make my tea with the petals
just hang around, pick up the tab
never out think me, just mink me
polar bear rug me, don't bug me
new thunderbird me, you heard me
I'm getting hungry, peel me a grape.

You really should hear Diana Krall sing this....it's fab!

You're spoiled!

Well, let me sneak in here and say I'm with Kethry....those white satin nighties are tops with me..

Of course to really date my era, I always go with "One for my Baby"

Set 'em up, Joe..
I got a little story
I want you to know.
Feeling so bad...
Can't you make the music
Ease me a tad?
We're drinking, my friend,
To the end
Of a brief episode...

So make it one for my baby
And one more for the road.

So that's how it goes
And, Joe, I know you're getting
Ready to close.
Thanks for the cheer
I hope you didn't mind my
Bending your ear.
But this torch that I found
Has got to be drowned
Or it's soon to explode..

So make it one for my baby
And one more for the road.

and I like Love is a Bore.....

Love is a bore
Love is a ball game
Without a score.
Love is the mailman
Without the mail
A comic without a gag
Asparagus
Without the hollandaise
Plus all the belly laughs
In Tennessee Williams' plays..
I used to love it but
Now it's a drag
Love is a flagpole
Without a flag
Love is a sailboat without the sail
A lock on the candy store
A soap opera plot
and much, much more....
But mainly I mean -
Love's a bore.

It's I'll call you tomorrow
It's a phone that never rings
It's a sackful of sorrow
Or a ride on angel's wings

So just remember
the next time you score
Love is an exit without a door
But, if you're in love,
You'll ignore
All the things that I said
Here before
And you'll pray that your love
Whatever he does
Will come back and be
The bore that he was
Once more......

Ha! That's precious!
You got me on that one......Never heard it before?

Great lines though!

In a more recent vein...

"I came in as the sun came up
She glared at me over her coffee cup
She said where you been, so I thought real hard and said,
I fell asleep in that hammock in the yard
She said you don't know it boy but you just blew it
I said well that's my story and I'm stickin' to it

That's my story, that's my story
Well I ain't got a witness I can't prove it but
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it

Well I got that deer in the headlights look
She read my face like the cover of a book, and said
Don't expect me to believe all that static
'Cause just last week I threw that hammock in the attic
My skin got so thin you could see right through it
And I said that's my story and I'm stickin' to it

That's my story, that's my story
That's my story, that's my story
Well I ain't got a witness I can't prove it but
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it

You know time comes when a wise man knows the best thing
That he can do is just look her right in the eye
And beg for mercy and face the bitter truth

Well honey me and the boys played cards all night
Wasn't no hanky panky not a woman in sight
And I know I shoulda called and baby I'm really sorry
Let's get a cellular phone then you won't have to worry
You know how much I love you and darling I'm ready to prove it
And that's my story and I'm stickin' to it

Ya just can't outsmart them...........It'll get ya killed!

That's one of the early Streisand songs....

Probably my favorite for the words is "My Quiet Room"....

I have a quiet room
A room nobody can see
A secret place
That's all my own
And only I hold the key.

The rest of my life
Is an open book..
It's features can all be known
But nobody knows
Of my quiet room
Where I can be all alone.

I have a quiet room
With dreams piled high
On the shelf
And one whole wall's
A looking glass
For really seeing myself

Sometimes I sit
In the lonely gloom
And I think of how fine
It could be
If you would come
To my quiet room
And share these treasures with me...

Yeah that's great one!   Poetic in style really!
Says a lot!

I really love this one....I know you'll relate to it  One of my all time favourites!

You might wake up some morning
To the sound of something moving past your window in the wind.
And if you're quick enough to rise,
You'll catch a fleeting glimpse of someone's fading shadow.
Out on the new horizon,
You may see the floating motion of a distant pair of wings.
And if the sleep has left your ears,
You might hear footsteps running through an open meadow.

Don't be concerned; it will not harm you.
It's only me pursuing something I'm not sure of.
Across my dreams, with nets of wonder,
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love.

You might have heard my footsteps
Echo softly in the distance through the canyons of your mind.
I might have even called your name
As I ran searching after something to believe in.
You might have seen me running
Through the long-abandoned ruins of the dreams you left behind.
If you remember something there
That glided past you followed close by heavy breathing,

Don't be concerned; it will not harm you.
It's only me pursuing something I'm not sure of.
Across my dreams, with nets of wonder,
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love.

Across my dreams, with nets of wonder,
I chase the bright elusive butterfly of love.

Absolutely! That one has always ranked high with me

Here'a another favorite of mine...I've Been to Town

I've been to town, I've walked the highways and in the suburbs too.
I've done somethings I never thought I'd ever do.
Now as I stand here looking down at you, you ask me why it is I frown.
I guess it's 'cause I've been to town.
I've been to town beyond the boulevard and down the beach,
I've learned some things that only time can teach,
For instance, love is more than just a speech,
It's got to find a common ground,
I know 'cause I've been to town.
Don't tell me any more, I can't waste any more years,
I've seen my image in your eyes,
Dissolve in disappointed tears.
I've been to town, you ask me do I know the Milky Way,
I do, and furthermore I'd like to say
It isn't milky white, it's dingy gray,
Especially when your world breaks down,
I know because I've been to town.

In the spirit of lyric---I'll close with this bit of melancholy---

"Company" By Ricki Lee Jones

"I'll remember you, too clearly--
but I'll survive, another day.
Conversation to share?
When there's no there?
I imagine what you'd say...

I see you in another life now baby
(I see you in my dreams...)

And as I dance across the galaxy--
I will miss your company."

(for my dad--I don't just "love" my father--I LIKE him) nice tune that is...has to be heard to be appreciated...and thanks eric, and michael...twas lovely!

Ah my dear betrothed to another southern belle it's melancholy but with the beauty pondering heartbreak produces.......YOU started all this!   I'm glad you did.

I just had to add this one.....It ranks way way up there in my estimation!

"Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heat-strings that play soft and low
And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

    Chorus:
Can I just have one a' more Moondance with you, my love
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

Well, I wanna make love to you tonight
I can't wait 'til the morning has come
And I know that the time is just right
And straight into my arms you will run
And when you come my heart will be waiting
To make sure that you're never alone
There and then all my dreams will come true, dear
There and then I will make you my own
And every time I touch you, you just tremble inside
And I know how much you want me that you can't hide

    Chorus

    Repeat 1st Verse

One more Moondance with you in the moonlight
    On a magic night
La, la, la, la in the moonlight
    On a magic night
Can't I just have one more dance with you my love

The role of poetry is to utter the un-utterable; to open up
spaces of consciousness and resistance; to language oppressions; to
re-language historie

Well, can't have this thread without Bob Dylan....

I'm beginning to hear voices and there's no one around
now I'm all used up and I kind of feel turned around ??
I went to church on Sunday and she passed by
and my love for her is taking such a long time to die
God I'm waist deep, waist deep in the mist
It's almost like, almost like I don't exist
I'm 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound
There's a wall of pride high and wide,
can't see over to the other side
It's such a sad thing to see such? beauty/human? decay,
it's sadder still to feel your heart torn? away
one look at you and I'm out of control
like the universe has swallowed me whole
I'm 20 miles out of town and Cold Irons bound
There's too many people, too many to recall
I thought some of 'em were friends of mine
I was wrong about 'em all
Well, the road is rocky and the hillside's mud
Up over my head nothing but clouds of blood
I found my own, I found my one in you

But your love just hasn't proved true
I'm 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound
20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound
...
Well the winds in Chicago have turned me to shreds
reality has always had too many heads
some things last longer than you think they will
some kind of things you can never kill
it's you and you only I'm thinking about
but you can't see in, and it's hard looking out
I'm 20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound
Well the fat's in the fire, and the water's in the tank
and the whiskey's in the jar, and the money's in the bank
I tried to love and protect you because I cared
I'm gonna remember forever the joy we've shared
but looking at you and I'm on my bended knee
you have no idea what you do to me
I'm 20 miles out of town Cold Irons bound
20 miles out of town, Cold Irons bound

Ha! Oh yeah that's great one....I love this kinda thing......

      Death Of A Ladies Man

Ah the man she wanted all her life was hanging by a thread
"I never even knew how much I wanted you," she said.
His muscles they were numbered and his style was obsolete.
"O baby, I have come too late." She knelt beside his feet.
"I'll never see a face like yours in years of men to come
I'll never see such arms again in wrestling or in love."
And all his virtues burning in the smoky Holocaust
She took unto herself most everything her lover lost

Now the master of this landscape he was standing at the view
with a sparrow of St. Francis that he was preaching to
She beckoned to the sentry of his high religious mood
She said, "I'll make a place between my legs,
     I'll show you solitude."

He offered her an orgy in a many mirrored room
He promised her protection for the issue of her womb
She moved her body hard against a sharpened metal spoon
She stopped the bloody rituals of passage to the moon

She took his much admired oriental frame of mind
and the heart-of-darkness alibi his money hides behind
She took his blonde madonna and his monastery wine --
"This mental space is occupied and everything is mine."

He tried to make a final stand beside the railway track
She said, "The art of longing's over and it's never coming back."
She took his tavern parliament, his cap, his cocky dance,
she mocked his female fashions and his working-class moustache.

The last time that I saw him he was trying hard to get
     a woman's education but he's not a woman yet
And the last time that I saw her she was living with some boy
who gives her soul an empty room and gives her body joy.

So the great affair is over but whoever would have guessed
it would leave us all so vacant and so deeply unimpressed
It's like our visit to the moon or to that other star
I guess you go for nothing if you really want to go that far.

It's like our visit to the moon or to that other star
I guess you go for nothing if you really want to go that far.

It's like our visit to the moon or to that other star
I guess you go for nothing if you really want to go that far.
