zoe is me, no zoe,
is free, she skips words with
my leaden pen, she fancifully soars
unmindful of my tethers
zoe is smiles and joy
and poetry

gloominess sought to bind
with sodden thoughts,
denial, to gravestone
with forgetfulness
but zoe demanded emancipation-
three years it took to word her
ransom, now zoe
is free

no

zoe is me

when widowed I think
a writer we will be

I agree with 1slick_lady!!! *S* Freedom may have to wait... but a writer you already are. *S*

I think you've given new definition to the term "the tie that binds"... That definitely puts the poem in a somber category... but the gossamer lightness of zoe in her freedom is a wonderful juxaposition and a glimpse of what could be. And I love the sprinkle of rhyme... this is excellent!

You have Zoe...
that is good...

I know one of our ladies here has her Jo...

another few of them know where their lights are hidden as well...

just keep writing, JB...
don't ever allow the well to dry...

Sun is right, JB...
and you have spawned a thought...
you will see it soon...

keep writing...

Oh, now I understand the poem by Lady in White,  I guess I should look around a little more before responding so quickly.  Then I might understand more.  Nice write with heavy thinking.

Oh, yes, surely you are a writer already!
This was an interesting piece, for sure.

E-mail me if you're interested in this fun, free online class that will start again sometime in August. The course leader is also going to start and advanced class for $5 per 8 week session. I'm only mentioning this because of your comment, re. critiques, above.

I've not read enough of your poetry to evaluate it, nor am I equipped to do so. But I'd like to see more people in the class so there are more perspectives re. what we post. In fact the class is called "Perspectives."

jellybeans

I have another piece of me
who waits outside my window
whispering to me, be free.

I so enjoyed reading this poignant poem.  I agree with those above..you are a writer!

rex, I don't know how far you had to go back to find this, but thank you much for bringing it back..I had really thought it had bombed earlier when posted...I know it means something to me, but I thought it was too personal to go over well...
thank you all for your kind comments...zoe and I both appreciated and love the people here at PIP

Things really don't bomb here at Passions, they do sometimes seem to slip by unnoticed at times.
I've always enjoyed your works ... we both started here about the same time so I generally read your posts when I do see them.
I have a problem with reading and not replying but I'm trying to change that
