The day before
What were you doing the day before..
Before I was born onto this earth

Were you smiling, feeling me there inside
Sleeping peacefully waiting patiently
Thinking of the month of October
Waiting for the moment to come

Did you know my name then
Was I a boy or a girl
Was I kicking, squirming
or was I still, resting

The day before my life began
A day we all never forgot.
A hot humid Texas Summer day.
Fifty-four years ago..

Why?  Why was the day before so early
Was it because of all the years you smoked
Or....did God want to share me with you then
He and I were impatient...

I wasn’t even grown enough yet
My lungs could barely breath,  I turned blue
You had to make me cry...that I might live..
You cried when you did...we both cried..
Little tiny feet, hands, arms, legs
So small, a shoe box would be my bed

Today is the day before....
The day before I was born...
Thank You for taking care of me...

For, if not for your care...
This would not be....
The day before...

Oh how very thought provoking, Barry...
I have always wondered about things like that....
What happens before we are born...
where is our soul at that time?

you must have been a tiny baby...well, I guess that mighty poets grow from tiny newborns.

Well, now you've gone and done it!
After that wonderfully sensual write earlier.
Now you have me all teary eyed!
Seriously this is heart-wrenchingly beautiful.

Marge, Lyra, Nancy....

who would think that a man,  over six feet
tall would come into the world...VERY EARLY

and weigh only 3 lbs, 6 ounces....A very
tough time for me,  fighting for life
every day till my lungs developed enough
that I could breath on my own without my
breathing stopping....

I wonder what my mother was doing the day
before all hell broke loose and she went
into labor early....  It must have been
terrifying for her....not even sure that
they would be able to get me through those
weeks of uncertainty...

Thanx ladies...just sharing feelings and
thoughts...

Magnus darling boy oh my how wonderful is this piece, so your birthday is 14 June? Krissy’s is the 16 June and I can tell you exactly what I was doing for the whole of the 24 hours before she was born. I was doing the same thing I’d been doing since she was conceived nine months before, wishing that I could stop being sick for longer than half an hour. Never mind she was worth it, well she was before she started upstaging me now it’s another story. Seriously yes she was worth it as I’m sure you were and are worth every anxious moment you gave your mum.

Your writing always captivates and delights me, and you have such style it truly speaks to me I love it utterly utterly as I love everything you write.

Absolutely wonderful writing as always you amaze me, with skill such as so few possess you are an outstanding writer of soul’s voice

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the eathquake wind and fire
Oh

Thanx Mushy...yes...tomorrow brings to me
yet another year...and many wonderful
memories tempered by some I would rather not
remember...But...such is life for us all, is
it not?

Thanx darling girl...

(BIG HUGGGSSSSSSS) Oh Barry, this brought tears to my eyes reading this, I am so very happy and blessed that you did live that day before and grew to be born into their loving arms and grow into the wonderful friend you are to us all, this is heartwrenchingly beautiful and I do believe that only God knows everything about us before we awake here in purgatory! (sigh) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

masterful verse and a tribute to the birth day of the weaver of these words.  We may share a "bar landing zone"  but you have a couple of years to go to catch up to me in seniority - HB Paul
