If this--tonight--
he would die?
Bet--tomorrow--
I would cry.

If I saw him
open-eyed
wonder of
unrealized...

I would weep
until head pounds--
haunted by
his living sounds.

I have been
a companion--
he has been
adoring eyes...
anger just
an onion skin--
all of life?
a compromise

If tomorrow, he were dead?
I'd beg they would wake me, instead.

We always wonder if in passing
It’s only a shadow we’re casting
And if once the carbon shell is gone
Will anyone notice we’ve moved on
I’d like to think something’s lasting
When this short mortal time is done
If nothing but a piece of poetry
Or a sweet memory

That which would cause you so much pain upon its loss should then be cherished today.

I have to agree with Sharon, don't take a thing for granted--but then, don't let anyone do it to YOU, either....sigh...

(I just write the stuff, never claimed I lived it---grin...)

Thanks much...party girl is tired now...
