It was Summer, hot...humid...when they met.
Touched deeply by the unseen eyes
In the Fall of their lives

The sweltering heat drenching them
Bead after bead of life trickling down
Yet,  though hot...the coolness of words
soothed them.

As Fall came, the spring of love arrived
Flowers growing on endless fields
Lovers dancing among butterflies
The moon replaced the sun.

Nights filled with passions of soul
Whispered thoughts in flurries.
Love shone bright as did the moon,
full...of love, life and all else..

As Summer gave in to Autumn...
Flowers gave their petals to earth
Love felt the chill of night.
Leaves falling slowly....
As did the love..

Winter’s harshness stormed in.
Extinguishing the flames of the hearth.
Passions ebbed as embers died.
Love became lost to time until...
Spring came knocking at Winter’s door....
In the Fall of their lives...

Magnus...free verse!  I've done one similar to this, so you can only imagine the smile when I saw how this fell down the page...

a very big smile...

Karilea...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU..
I used to write free verse a lot...then I
started writing rhyme...and seem to have
stuck on it...  Mayhaps I shall write more,
a little variety, so to speak...

Hello Barry

Your words filled my heart and warmed my soul even though they were tinged with sadness at the end.  This would have to be a favourite for sure.

Take care......Sue

Magnus,
seems you have fallen into free verse. We should all fall so wonderfully.

Wonderful illustrative parallels Magnus......Nicely written....

            "Winter’s harshness stormed in.
Extinguishing the flames of the hearth.
             Passions ebbed as embers died.
Love became lost to time until...
Spring came knocking at Winter’s door....
In the Fall of their lives..."

Love the full circle of that ending!

I saw a happy ending here, after going through the many seasons of love they reunite. Yes?
I hope so.

perhaps you should write more in this style Sir. . . yes. . . it gives you a good balance. . . sometimes, the rhythm of life is free. . .

and yes, the seasons of life always seem to end up with winter. . .
