In our rich culture
People try to divide us
North from South
East from West
But pennies from heaven
Will always join us

In the riches of the wealthy
They can claim our country
But the pennies from heaven
Will struggle to work for us
In the strength of the common man

In the religions that can hold hands together
Uniting in the principles of the land
We dictate our faith to survive
In prayers that spread over
The harvest of humanity
In a tribute called the American dream

Yes this country of wills
Joins in with the democracies of this world
To point up in the strength of determination
Rebuilding those that tear it down

In an impossible dream
That an American can have
I see two new floors in towers of hope
Making the World Trade Center a little higher
Housing the museums of the world
Showing the pride and perseverance
Of being an American
In a showcase that makes tribute
To all those that had fallen

While I will dream
Of a trillion billion pennies
Funding a heaven for those taken from us
To fly from in the fire from our past
From the pennies from heaven
That we all pocket as change

Will this happen?
Only if I can keep dreaming
In the spirit of a free land
That can make anything happen
Even to a lonely man
With a tear in his eye
And pennies in his pocket
To dream on making a difference

I dream for change in the strength of the hands of the common worker.

Any change here and now will be violent and the "haves" have positioned any outcry as un-American. Back to the bomb shelters of the 50's only now we hide from ourselves.

D Lester,
I like the way you coin a phrase.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown
