There's no one listening when I cry
loved ones see and then they sigh
all discreetly turn away
when ugly depression is on display

no one acknowledges what triggers the fall
yet blame one another for nothing and all
I'm left to sink or swim alone
an unwanted guest in my own home

sometimes I wish that I could die
to snuggle beneath the empty lie
but guilt has held me in it's chains
dangled my children in mocking disdain

Painful to wake to "one more day"
to find "death" hasn't gone away
a permanent part, my next of kin
my sensual lover, my carnal sin

no one notices his rough embrace
the scars that time will not erase
with daggers he claims me as his own
a prisoner within my skin and bone

Death persuades with lusty call
a promise if I'd just end it all
& lay to rest this mess called life
my farce of motherhood and wife

I ache...

& sometimes want to believe
that death just might be good for me
to never wake up to suffer this way
nor be ignored by those who say~

they love me,

when actions prove them false
walk out on them all, to their loss
but reality knows I'm going to stay
& suffer the pain of another day,
sad to say...

I, ache...

Tiers, I hate that you feel so depressed. I have been in that place often, and the loneliness is so hard. Hang on though, cause you have so many gifts, and reasons to be here.

Wow, this was written wonderfully...so much emotion.  I'm so sorry you're feeling so sad *hugs* I wish there were something I could do.  Your poem was beautiful though.

Tiersdin, I have found that when I am feeling this way, getting it out and writing the emotions into beautiful poetry really helps.  Hugs and hope you feel better soon.

Tier...this is a lovely poem, with pain just dripping from between the lines...
I am so glad that you have found poetry as a means of therapy.
It has meant so much to me also.
I've been through a lot in the past few years and I think that the only 2 things which ground me are my wonderful husband and my writing.

I hope you feel better soon.

Lyra, thank you for that. It does help when there are ways to express the pain in order to purge it from one's soul.  I find such a release not only through poetry, but creating my own music, and through art.

Dark Angel, thank you... It's always good to hear that someone finds your work worth reading. I shall return the favor and read you as well.

Ethome, left you speechless have I? I must work on that! *chuckles*  Thank you so much for your comment...

May love and light always shine upon you!
