Anywhere Home

Simple reflection in pale drip of morning
breathing liquid air just opening drawer of sun,
a touch of finger warm to cheek,
the feel of kiss on tangled morning hair.

Blue afternoon,
warm to postman friendly feet,
twisting air around a neighborhood
with freshly out of school kids of summer.

Once I thought
to make complete the picket fence you found
we’d need a mailbox of wood,
hand painted and with certainty,  our name.

But no,

just the quiet steady place of you
where I am traced through years,
a slipped cotton pale shoulder of me
with your warm breath there

is anywhere that we are.

you just took the old cliche.."home is where the heart is"...
and dressed it in the warm of a summer morn and gave it a new breath of life in your turn of phrase.
Poetry is where your pen is
Something about the morning inspires you in such a special way ( recalling silk lined)

Martie,

This is so graceful and beautiful. So serene. You almost make it sound like kids being out of school for the summer is a good thing. LOL.

So does this mean that I am home once again???   Sure feels that way when I read one of your works.  Excellent phrasing and of course no one takes the simplicity at hand and adds the elegance the way you do in your superb free-verse.  Excellent and just what I needed to come back to.

If I tried to pick a favorite line, I'd be copying the entire poem... what a delicate painting of peace and contentment and "rightness" with each other. *S*
