The Shores of Alone

0 posted 2002-06-10 10:51 AM

Today my Gram is ninety five
or would be if she still was here
I wonder if she's aging still
I can't seem to control my tears.

My hope is that she's young again
happy and healthy, full of fun
cause that's the way I think of her
She always held a ray of sun.

It feels impossible today
to miss her birthday gathering
I want to bring her flowers still
and tell her of the love she brings.

So through my tears, here is my toast
to Gram, may all your dreams come true
in heavenly surroundings now
Remember how much I love you.

I feel this with you, Sandra...
she put her hand
into the bucket of water
and never took it out...

I raise my glass to the warmth of the sun,
the touch of your words, and the thoughts of your grandmother.
May she always live in your memoies as you see her.

I doubt that any other topic can touch the sincerity of a poem written to a departed loved one. You have penned an excellent one here

Such a beautiful sentiment put to your words and I have a feeling that all that ever made her smile is in the palm of her hands all the time including being able to read this work of yours.  Very well written and expressed.
