Use the following line in a poem of your choice:
"Who will drive your soul"

"Who will drive your soul"
Will it be the man with the reigns
Who sits on you as if you the steed
You listen, for the wolves show their fangs
He the master, as you allow your soul to bleed
Will it be the ones by you
Who believe they know true
Who stand with the air of knowing
They follow the wind that is blowing
As you wander aimlessly
Shall it be the ones who birthed you
To forever own you
Will you let them keep you caged?
Shall you be driven?

AFTERNOON SNACK
(Who will drive your soul?)

One day my mother and I were sitting at the table, eating our afternoon snack cookies and milk the way we did every day after coming home from work or a long day of school. She would always say that we both needed energy to get us through the rest of the day and I could never disagree with her on that one. And plus, who doesn’t love having a good peanut butter cookie with some milk? Occasionally we would switch it up and make chocolate chip cookies once a week. But she knew me too well she knew I was a sucker for the peanut butter cookies. For that matter, I am a sucker for anything with peanut butter in it.
I took one bite of my peanut butter cookie and a sip of my milk. It was silent which was not like my mother. She always had something on her mind, and that was the only difference between her and I, was the fact that she always spoke what was on her mind. Me I would but not when it came to some things. She though didn’t have any secrets that I knew of.  She just told us straight out.  After swallowing my milk I finally looked at my mother and said “mom, you have something on your mind don’t you? What is it? She paused like she wasn’t going to say anything, but took a sip of her milk and took my hand. “Darling, have you decided who you are going to chose; the man in black, or the man in white?” She always referred to two of the guys that I like as the man in black or the man in white.  Andrew has a darker side to him, but he has had a hard life and he treats me really well. I fell for him first but then another man named Chase came into my life. Andrew never has established whether or not we were boyfriend and girlfriend yet all of his actions show that we are. And Chase wants to be my boyfriend but how do I chose one or the other?
“No mom, it’s complicated. I have no idea what to do I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feelings.” I took a bite of my cookie and looked at my mother deep into her brown eyes. She finally said “Sweet heart, this is the way I look at it…. Yes Andrew is a sweet guy but he is kind of dark and depressing, and Chase is happy and outgoing. Who will drive your soul; the devil or the angel? Which one makes you happy and will continue to make you happy for the rest of your life, not only for a short while? I love you and hope you make the right decision. Just remember, who will drive your soul?”

"Thanks mom for the advice, I am going to go get ready I am hanging out with Andrew. I will let you know when I decide."

time flies by
never slowing, never stopping
on this highway called life,
what matters though is:
who will drive your soul?
