...Why we write?!

I would dearly love to read personalized responses in any regular poetic form,
or 'Prosetry' (prosaic poetry), or 'Poetrose' (poetic prose) to the above!

I write
For THAT single tear that was already dried before I cry.
I write
For That strongest emotion that every song failed  to express.
I write
For the purest love that it is too delicate to address.

My first try.

I write
because the world tells me to.
It screams
whispers
and sometimes even picks up my hand
and guides.
It brings me gifts for my amusement
like sudden spring weather
in winter
or just one single color
that does not leave my head for days
(sometimes even years)
I write
because one day
this world decided to walk through my eyes
unblurred and uninhibited
and told me
it had given me a great gift
and that I simply
must write.

"...buried way beneath the sheets
I think she's having a meltdown..."

I write
For all I've ever known
and to understand what I have sown
For every emotion that slithers in my breast
With a tongue to descibe was I blest
All you wish to know I have put in poem
Describing indescibable from the comfort of my home

"Be Strong and Always Remember what made you you." Earl

"Ooo!!! Ooo!! I know! I know! um...he he" Earl

A brush of dream
A palette of rainbow
Each of my ten fingers
screamed at them: NO!

A voice of nightingale
Notes of angelical led
My single tongue twirled in silence
and pretended dead.

An orchestral of Spring
A stage of heaven
My limbs flew away in wings
and my mind was leavened

My lonely heart cried words
Into digital coin sorter
each was weighed and wrapped
and deeply buried

Then who else beside the sense of pain
took my breath
into print?

i write
to tell the world
of their own mistakes
to show them they
have too much at stake.

i write
to let it be known
just the way it is
and not to fail
to write like this.

i write
when everything seems
to cause such heartache
when life gets confusing
and all it does is take.

i write
for all you people
that seem to care
'cause without you
i'd feel so bare.

the sun is for the days.. the moon for the nights.. but you are forever.

It's a stirring against my breast thing,
as if thoughts are trying to find freedom.
It's soul melding with dark of night
and basking in sun on ice.
It's being led by one word
down a road of poetic expression.

And it's waking up under the moon
shining through the skylight
and capturing memories of a dream.

It's seeing dogs frolicing in the snow,
faces pushed deep, following a scent.
It's my Mother's laughter calling
to hold this moment hostage forever.
It's the afterglow of a dance shared,
fingers linked, faces close in conversation.

And it's simply need demanding satiation,
pictures that must be painted,
and stories only told in a poem.

...

Why I Write (2/9/08)

I write for it is reason
That I should leave something behind
I write to escape this treason
The one for which I’m tried

I write for every child
Who yet has to discover
That though they may be mild
They are artists undercover

I write because it speaks to me
The thoughts within my mind
Because of all the plaintive things
That I’ve left undefined

With a single drop of water in ocean
You  made a storm over the mountain
And you flooded the universe
with a touch of dried fountain
of thousand years

I can't, so I write in words.

I wish I could accept this challenge
I really,really do

But try as I might
Can't explain why I write

'Tis just something I have to do...

My dear lady Sunshine, can't embarrass me like this!!!! As if I know not how well you write. I am not even 1/100 percent gifted as sir Balladeer. But I can write clearer that Sir Brad (it does not matter mine is not good)

Poetry

Soothes a lost soul,
remembers loves past
and dreams of what's to come

Stand straight and tall, not the reflection as others see you, but as you truely are.        Clearwater

         Because of Something More

Here is this in its' stead for what I'll never write,
whose attempts to be told have been frittered away.
A lament I would voice to acknowledge this fact,
I believe after that, there'd be no more to say.

Yet this paradox fuels every stroke of the pen,
each a piece to a puzzle I'd hoped to complete,
knowing well that to flirt with the source of the fire
is to risk being scorched and consumed by its' heat.

So we dance, and at times we are shown in its' glow
as a vision unfolds to a curious eye.
Just a fragment that glints, never becoming whole,
and we question ourselves as the time passes by,

feeling always as if we are right on the brink
of defining this world, and ourselves, with mere ink.

Here's a poem that I posted a few years back and thought that it might appropriate for your challenge.

I Write Because
by Linda L. Dowd

Some say I'm multi-faceted,
But the truth is plain to me,
I can't make my mind up,
As to what I'd like to be!

I've studied several subjects,
And racked up lots of letters,
I learned my ABC's
And joined the go-getters.

But I thrive on adventure ~
Different places ~ different schemes,
And even with my poetry,
I write on different themes.

I write poems of sizzling passion,
I write poems of tender love,
I write poems that are silly,
I write poems on God Above.

I may write something humorous,
Then I'll write 'bout something bad,
But next thing that I'm penning,
Could be very, very sad.

I write on spirituality,
And on fairies, elves and sprites.
I write about the angels,
And things bumpin’  in the nites!

Through writing I express myself,
And pour emotions out,
It's best for me to write them down,
Than to sit about and pout.

I may write for the masses,
Or for just a chosen few.
At times I write for me,
Then at others just for you.

Fantasies of every sort,
Flow from my trusty quill.
I like to be up-lifting
~ But I also like to thrill!

I tell tales from the Dark Side,
Then I write about the Light,
I pen in different forms,
But no one way is right.

My poems have drawn a tear,
And also spawned a laugh,
I've brought about a sigh or two,
Then I'm off to write of wrath!

I write poems for the little ones,
For children I hold dear,
I like to make them giggle,
And spread a little cheer.

I write poems on Mother Nature ~
On the stars, sun, moon and sod,
But this talent I've been blessed with,
Is a gift I got from God!

~
