The leaves they blaze like blood singing softly on the lawn Your voice it trails on through a broken and a soaken dawn In the shadows of your mind I can see the spell is broken Bitter woodsmoke fills the air Choking words that were not spoken Cascades of clumsy lines mark the grave of conversation Words that gleam in florid dreams light the path that wasn't taken How the silence fills the air Hard and heavy, dumb and dreary Leaden clouds they spill their tears All their beauty spent and wearied I hear you, I see you though I know you're far away Standing beside me Now I know you're far away Your darkened hair casts webs A tangled cast so mean and hard We feast our emptiness On honeyed jests and bitter shards Our burning lips and blazing eyes wilt and wither with the leaves The bloodied smoke it cleaves our tongues leaving nothing but to grieve I hear you, I see you though I know you're far away Standing beside me Now I know you're far away. |
