I've been thinking about Ron's "Masquerade" idea...
So, until it gets all fleshed out, I thought we could have some fun!

Pick someone from the list below and write a poem using that persons style (as close as you can).

I'm sure it is harder than it seems, but I think it would be interesting to see the world through anothers’ eyes for a bit. And because it’s a hard thing, take your time...Enjoy!

The fun part comes when we all try to guess who is being...ummm...so honored.
Just enter your best guess in your reply

So? Here's the list in no particular order: Hopefully representing diverse styles
(Of course I'm gonna pick a few of my favorites...It IS my challenge after all.)

Now, off to the archives with you!

It is your challenge after all, and a fun one at that.  I think the intent of the masquerade would have been easily understood without all the name dropping.

You mentioned alot of talented poets wranx,
but you missed so many more.

Yes indeed! I've missed many, many fine poets..I just didnt want this thing to get more confusing than it already is...Perhaps a masquerade II would be in order when this runs its course.

Thanks for the reminder Bluesy!

Before I forget:

Maybe it's just me, but the check-for-other-posts button doesn't seem to be working at all.  So keep in mind, all you masquerauders who want to check on the details of your costume, that Smart Search still works peachy.

I'm very late to this party! (crazy wabbit!)
Maybe I need an extra day off from my low paying unpoetic job to catch up! LOL
I will now attempt to read these and some archival type schtuff and select someone...
no, I'd best let the POET's own dynamic  emotional/intellectual impact select for me whom I'll (lamely) attempt to emulate, refabricate, or plagiarize if necessary.
ROTFL, what a cool idea, Ed!

Intriguing challenge! I see you have indeed selected poets with a variety of styles! Must admit that I was pleased to see my name among them! lol

I shall look forward to reading the poetic responses! ~ and may venture one of my own!

Let the games begin!

LOl.. and a third attempt to mimic a fine poet is in open.... I think perhaps I have done enough damage to the words of good writers....

Ed, you must come up with something similar to this hearty mind-bender, just so we can keep the Cpat within our mists...

I've spent a good part of my time here today and in the last week rading in the archives.. not only these poets but others who happen to be my favorites as well.

I'd like to say thanks to you Ed...for giving me a reason to think about what I had read in a different way... and for coming up with a challenge that made me look at the style and content differently...

there are a great many fine poets here... and I tip my hat to all and thank them as well for the words they have shared and for the words that have inspired me along the way.

Enjoyed this Ed... now, it is time for me to go hide again..lol..

Well Ed, here I come dragging in, as usual.
I read some of the Masquerade poems this afternoon,
but didn't read your challenge until just awhile ago.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my name there,
though I know I would be really easy to write.
Now, I've got to figure out which one of these
fine poets I might even attempt to write the style of.

This has been a FINE party. I'd like to thank everyone that's participated so far (both posters and repliers) and hope that some will change their costume and stay a bit longer.

Yanno? Every single one of these has been nothing short of wonderful...And the poetry itself, regardless of "styles" stands alone.

My thanks to Ron (the wiz) for suggesting such a thing in the first place.

I attempted one but it would bring shame to the person who I was imitating because meter kills me. So I'm not doing that one. I should go easy on myself.

thats...too easy...heh

no
