I've written of Iambe for anumber of years now, but little to nothing of whether she had a family or relatives. If Iambe had a sister, what would she be like? Can you create a sister for Iambe that you could write more than one poem about, telling her life through your eyes? What's an apprpriate name for her...remembering that family names tend to be consistantly odd or normal.....

Should be great fun for me to see what you come up with if interested...if not...guess I'll have to go find her and see if I can't give her away to someone that needs a muse...

hmmm...munch munch in me head. grinning...problem is, having sisters I KNOW how different we all are. And I'm having to tame this drunken monkey of my mind here from going off into the absurd...and BESIDES, you've got enough info on me for a complete psychological profile NOW...

I feel nekkid when I know yer around!

Ser... yes they can be different indeed, as was the case in my own family with all of us being quite different yet still...there are often underlying fine points in common.
Go to the absurd if you like...the whole idea was to see what came out of YOUR minds if you created the character. She can be anything you wish....and can act anyway you want... she would after all be yours...

as for the psycholigical profile...heck you know I ain't that smart. I do good just to figure out if people are talking to me or about me...  the idea of figuring out someone else well.... that is just way beyond my puny brain.

as for nekkid... (laughing) Put some clothes on girl.... you'll be making Mikey blush!!

I heard tell
Iambe had a brother, or
at least, he resembled a brother...

perhaps, just perhaps...
the family tree
and apples
are in Iambe's future...

Ron...only one question.

Where did Iambe and her sisters grow up?  You mentioned Iambe left home early, but I never found out where home was.

never said where she grew up.... so guess it is up to you to make that what you will. Could have been anywhere I guess, but I have always sort of pegged her to OK or TX since I wrote about her. I did a poem once about her leaving home..but not sure I ever posted it and know I didn't specify where home was..

nice part of this is you get to pick it... and all the layers you guys add to the person I get to use in Iambe poems....unless I run off with one of her sisters after you guys write them into creation..

(chuckling) Go for it!

*grins*  Yeah, you posted it.  But if you run off with this sister I might get a touch jealous.  I wouldn't think Iambe would stay in the same state that she grew up in; I can't picture that.  And since I've read that she's a current Oklahoma resident, I might go with the other choice.  Thanks, that'll work out nicely.

(chuckling) well now you all know jealousy is one of the things that anyone around Iambe long has to deal with, so's I'll put it this way...if'n the sister strikes my fancy...I'd be willing to trade Iambe for her... Heck..Iambe cost me two worn out old poems when I got her...so what's a sister compared to that??

*ahem*

Just ask a sister who married her sister's ex.

OR, just ask the ex of the current brother in law.

I'd better shaddup or Jerry Springer will come searching me out!

tch.

Will give you a snippet of conversation between the two sisters BEFORE the wedding:

"Is it going to bother you if I marry him?"

Sigh. (guess who) "Remember those black pumps I gave you? They were beautiful shoes, but the arch was kind of severe for my feet--they fit YOU tho, and looked great. So? There ya go."

"Are you SURE it's not going to bother you?"

"In the long run? I suspect it will bother YOU more."

It does. *chuckle*?

And now ex boyfriend brother in law says, in explanation to those who dare to ask:

"I was NOT fired. I just got a lateral transfer."

Snake Charmer
for Ron's challenge

I'll never forget the first
time I laid eyes on Jake,
Iambe and Dillion's older brother.

He blew in unexpectedly
on a sultry summers breeze.
Tanned and tattooed ...
cowboy hat, blue jeans and boots.
He gave off an intensity like a
Texas tire fire.

He rarely wore more than jeans,
that tan and those tattoos.
He broke in his Levis like he did
the broncs and the women.

He never left the rodeo without the prize ...
never left the bar without skinned knuckles
and the girl on his arm.

He was one of the few men I'd ever seen
who could look Iambe in the eye and see
respect returned.

I'll never forget the last time I saw Jake either.
Iambe and I walked up on him swimming in
the lake, nothing on but that tan.

He just stood, strolled up the bank to his clothes,
smiling like the rattlesnake tattoo on his backside.
He pulled on his boots and jeans, tipped his hat,
winked at us and sauntered on down the dirt road.

As I watched him walk away,
I remember wishing with a vengeance ...
to be a tattoo in my next life.

JM

thank you Ron...for the inspiration ...
most of all for your Iambe series... and the way it makes this moth feel.

It is autumn. It is cold out. I am in hunker-down and quite-tired mode.

I'll see what I can work up -- but it might be a few days.

(despite the sleepiness, autumn is my favorite time of year, so that might help with the energy levels as the season progresses)

Anyway, I have already said too much.

Mike... I too find the change of seasons to be a time the energy ebbs.... you do as you do.... my teasing is just that...and what one writes or does not write should come from your soul...not from an ego driven desire or from a demand from some other..

go gather nuts for winter and let Iambe and her family do the disfunctional things they do...

damn.... i'm tired too...

I'm just worried of turning Iambe & Co. from fundamental to absurd. I mean, what if, aside from a sister who's a chef, it also suddenly turns out she has an artist, a pianist, a business-owner and a retired Vet in her family?

I'd rather not sully the flames by entitling her whole family tree to the worth of a poem.

I'm afraid my range is limited when it comes to fiction.

Mike...tell me a family that is not filled with just the things ( or some combination of others) you mentioned. I respect the thoughts you have..and as I said... I too am tired...so would not see in any way a need to write a family tree just for the sake of writing it...

Long story about Iambe...and in truth she is not all fiction. She is a compilation of people I have known and or met, making her real to me. More real than the words I write as she has been the essence of those things either missing in my own life or the things that were a part of my life. Because she has become all those things to me, and because I have known some greatly disfunctional people and family members...it is the weaving of the how and the why that drives the challenge. Creating fiction....yes... ut fiction from reality only to illustrate and explain the things perhaps that are too close to our own psyche to write or read, unless they exist in someone or something that has no flesh we have endure meeting in the mirror.

strange mood today my friend... so my rambles are perhaps best ket to myself, except now that I have typed it, I am compelled to post it...

Ed...
You write her as you see her. She will not get lost in any wash of family, as the family all represent different characters, different lives, different pasts. Iambe by the way never much cared if anyone thought her lost...she lived in spite of attention or lack there of. You can rest assured I would be reading her... kind of like that old love you can't quite forget... see the name, or catch a glimpse of someone that looks like you remember her..and your mind has to know...and your heart...well it does what hearts do, even if the rest of us don't admit it.

look forward to reading your Iambe... and letting her go.... she weighs heavy on me these days for some reason...
