I would like to challenge 10 differnt poets to "write" one of the paintings from "pictures at an exhibition"

1 writer - 1 painting
first come, first served

Claim yours from the list below, and let us know which one in this thread.

1.  The Gnome

2.  The old castle

3.  The Tuilleries

4.  The ox cart

5.  Trilbi

6.  Rich man, Poor man

7.  The market

8.  The Catacombes

9.  Baba Yagas' hut

10. The Great Gate of Kiev

Would be nice to see them all in one post when done. Maybe someone knows how to accomplish this.

~wranx

In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward".

Wranx, are these to be in the order in which they are placed, or may a little mixing be allowed?

I think that mixing would be fine. I just wanted to read ten differing voices.

Oh! thanks for posting the link. It will be helpful

I'm in....couldn't make up my mind, I really should see what writes itself and then decide, but I am kinda partial to "the old castle"--since I'm stuck here in the tower, yanno, battin' eyelashes...

The Catacombes

It does not take dark midnight oil
to paint the horrors of my soul
for any glance in my eyes
will see the skulled bones piled
waiting for rats to carry away
the refuse of dead lives
lived and living still
in catacombes of meager dimension
so that crowded even now
are the thoughts of you

I see no priest
absolving my sinful ways
offering me passage from here
in hells garden
to heaven's table
so I will hunger longer
wishing again
I had not killed
that most precious part of me
you so loved once

as I did you

Let me wander
leave me still
and look not into my eyes again
for the light of you
pains me more
than the death inside

"I just wanted to try another one."

I hope like hell that's not my epitaph.
