"Learn to write about the ordinary. Give homage to the old coffee cups, sparrows, city buses, thin ham sandwiches. Make a list of everything ordinary you can think of. Keep adding to it. Promise yourself, before you leave this earth, to mention everything on your list at least once in a poem, short story, or newspaper article."

--Natalie Goldberg

Now, if that's not enough of a challenge? I take a spin on Sven's ordinary object challenge, and ask you to take the mundane of your life, and paint it extraordinaire!!! (as only YOU can do...)

Hey K
Well, the thin ham sandwich is really tempting...considering the possibilities.  btw...don't you owe me a lunch?

I'm falling even more in love with you

Here's a story....bsquirrel might remember this one. I once worked for the state--CENTRAL PHARMACY--yep...don't blink...'tis true.

and? the bus from suburbs ran right in front of my house (I was still LATE of course) AND...one morning, as I walked out of my front door, I watched the ONLY bus left that would get me to work on time zoom past me. I trotted in my nice black pumps to the middle of the street, and? flipped off a high heeled shoe, and boomeranged that sucker, hitting the bus, DIRECTLY IN THE REAR. Much to my amazement, the albatross stopped...and? grin...I hobbled...one step up, the other down...gathered my shoe, and boarded the bus in this most unattractive fashion, and? laughing at the memory, to APPLAUSE...see? the ordinary? becomes extraordinary!!!!

go forth and write, good poets!!!!

*grousing at the edit--mispelled suburbs and probably more too--SPARE ME.*

Serenity-
Ya know...I haven't been able to write anything
in months, but this actually got me thinking.
Thanks for the idea, and wish me luck!
Hugs,
~Vicky

you have not truly met the poet.
