Sometimes I get bored with myself, so...I've been playing around with the magnetic poetry kits: http://www.magneticpoetry.com/magnet/vmpa.htm This is ONE of the choices. Go take a peek and poke around in the there. I've done two and posted them in Open...I'm interested to see what you guys can come up with! You are all so inventive! |

k, Thanks for posting this. I did this often a couple of years ago (tho not from this site). Good excercise I think. Mentioned it to someone and they said "huh?". Hadn't heard of it. Hope they see this. Maybe I'll have to go back to that ploy to get out of this ugly funk I'm in. On the verge of posting old stuff just to post but that gets nothin out of my head. I have a constipated brain these days. Ugh! e |

I think online magnetic poetry is great. In the past, I've used it to help me out of writer's block. For me, the key is not to depend solely on the words that are on the board. Use what you can find for the first line or two and then let the poem take off. At least, that is how it has worked for me. I started my poem "fade to gray" using a magnetic board. The first two lines were pretty much from the board and the rest of the poem is isolated words from the board mixed with my own inspirational additives. Be flexible! It's a great exercise. fade to gray scattered fragments of broken promises tempered by a dying fire from the ashes she builds her memories some far from the moment some far from the truth shattered images 'neath colorless rainbows paled by a careless desire over her shoulder she glares at the pieces some shadowed in black some sparkling in white frozen moments in burning teardrops snared by a painful briar it's such a small pin prick to bleed for a lifetime so far from that moment so far from her youth |
